Well, suddenly my halo ce takes 10 minutes to load unlike the 2 minutes it used to take. I did not download any maps that take up huge space, please tell me what happened!

I know that, but I didnt download any maps at all and it suddenly jumped from 2 to 10 minutes. I know it has to check all the map files and junk.

it doenst have anythjing to do with your halo ce files
your pc is jsut so much slower...

Spybot maybe

you should clean your pc of virusses en spyware and use disk defragmenter and it will probebly make your pc run at the normal speed and alos you shoulnd have any files like windows media player or anything of that kind open because that slows down your pc to

Spyware is easy to get rid of without wiping your Hard Drive, i wont get into it for the fact that stupid people wont understand, but if your smart its run>cmd>cd c:\>shutdown -s -t 600.

lol....

but no really

run

winconfig

startup tab- uncheck the box of the adware startup program

restart comp

run

regedit - search for the name of the spyware program you stopped starting up

delete everything associated with it..

restart comp.

done.

there i explained it , up to you to figure it out :)

double ENTER, for making you all very annoyed at the long post :)

dbl enter

dbl... lol im bored......

When did this poor guys topic become "How's your loading speed compared to map number"?.. lol

Anyways, if it is spyware, do a system restore (find a date that HCE was working fine that is in a restore point, if its realy old, you won't have one, and you'd have to acualy remove the spyware)

Anyways, while on the topic of the new topic of this topic (lol, lots of the word topic there..) I have like 7 maps in my map folder, and it loads in like 4 minutes.. rip off lol.

if you jsut get an decent virus scanner and use it 1 time a week (just let it run overnight so it doesnt cut into your game time) and use defragment 1 time a month adn you probebly never have to clean it.

I'm not a fan of 2 virus scanners because most of the time they will probebly work against eachoter isntead of agaisnt the viruses. if i was you i would stick to jsut 1

It find and gets rid of unwanted files. for instance say you uninstall a game most of the time if u go to your program files the game saves will still be there. defragment gets rid of those.

And my pc is the HP Blackbird Don't get too excited though, i only had enough cash to get all the cheapest stuff.... It's still good enough to run bioshock and world in conflict at their full potential. I have 124 maps and Halo loads instantly. I recomend the HP Blackbird to ANY hardcore gamer.

Start->Run...->MSCONFIG
the tab on the right shows what windows loads at startup
go thrue the list, and google each one. Some are required by windows, some can be disabled
when you're done, restart, and if you're satisfied with the results, check the box on the window that pops up at startup
Know what you're disabling before unchecking it

I have 6.59 GB in my maps folder.. And it load's within a minute or less. Also, you can consider Comodo, completly free, comes in anti-malware, anti-virus, a firewall ( which can get annoying), and another one I forgot... Way better than Avast or AVG, or Ad-aware IMO. Edit : I have 120 maps.
