Well, yeah...the term 'Machinima' is directly synced with Halo. The first Machinimas like RedvsBlue were with Halo, there really isn't another game you can do it with and still rightly call it 'Machinima', with the exceptance of Halo 2, 3, and Wars.

Quote: --- Original message by: Axe no rong: red vs blue was the worst remake of the best machinima made on well i dont know im being random but yah red vs. blue wasnt first cause i made machinima for h1 becasu i have xbox live emiter thing fo original halo 1 and anyways halo wasnt the first game machinima was made on look at my post up above I never said it was the first, don't put words in my mouth. I said 'like RedvsBlue.' It wasn't the first Machinima ever made, but it was one of the first and most notable (if not the most notable). And although I am more then aware that other games could've been used to make movies in the past, the fact remains that the term 'Machinima' wasn't coined until people started making movies with Halo. Machinima is exclusive to Halo, since no other game really was successful enough to merit its own term.

NO machinima applies to all movies made with video games and then voices are edited in examples WITHOUT halo include PANICS, The Strangerhood, civil Protection, 1-800 magic and i wrote (am writing) scripts for Red Faction, Haf life 2 deathmatch, Starwars Battlefront two, and FEAR combat. Even wiki thinks machinima has multiple games. Halo is just popular for making them because the characters face is all masked up, and it has a flexible game engine.(plus it's really cool) where did you get the idea machinima is all made from halo? Edited by legionaryproductions on Dec 15, 2007 at 09:29 PM Edited by legionaryproductions on Dec 15, 2007 at 09:30 PM I didn't, you assuming douche. Machinima applies to all games, yes, but its immediate connotations are Halo since, for the last time, The term 'Machinima' was first coined in reference to Halo videos. And considering that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone and is often sourceless and wrong, I wouldn't take their words for Gospel if you want to sound like anything but an ignorant ass. And although Wikipedia might connect Machinima with all videos, the fact is that the majority of people still connect Machinima directly to Halo. Just look at Microsoft's 'Machinima' Policies. They are in essence taking responsibility of the Machinima Genre. Now at this point you're thinking, 'But that can't be true, since Microsoft doesn't own the rights to all the games that Machinima can be made out of.' Well, then referring to all in-game videos as Machinima is pretty ineffective, don't ya think? And the fact that Lucasarts and other game designers haven't issued their own Machinima policies proves beyond any doubt that the number of Machinimas created with other video games besides Halo is virtually nil in comparison. Halo dominates and practically owns the Machinima category, it embodies it and all but encompasses it. So automatically linking Halo and Machinima is justified simply by the fact that they dominate the genre to such an extent that it actually made an impact on the makers. This argument is over, the thread is locked. P.S. Any videos involving Starwars Battlefront II will probably be terrible. No offence on your part, but without any camera options to speak of it will just look bad.
