I have had it with the barbaric, rude and childish practice of abusing people who make requests for maps and modifications. It WILL NOT continue and anyone who persists in the abusive practice will have their account banned from the forum.

This is not a new rule, it falls under rule number 3 where Halo Maps will not tolerate insulting, flaming or harassing of users. If someone makes a request you have two options.

1) Help them and/or discuss the request with them to clarify what they want.
2) If you dont want the help them then remain silent and do not post.

You may not harass them or tell them that no one does requests (which is a lie). You may not tell them to do it themselves, you may not post reasons why you or anyone else does not want to do it and you may not abuse or make fun of them.

I repeat:
If you do not want to do someone's request stay silent. Do not respond do not post.

For those of you making requests:

If you wish to ask for help or request a map or mod then please be courteous, remember you are asking for a favor. Be to the point and offer as much information about what and why you are looking for. Do not be upset if no one responds or does not want to do it. Do not be abusive or demanding.

I will no longer tolerate this kind of bad behavior in this forum. I dont care what it allowed anywhere else but this is definitely NOT ALLOWED HERE.

I also have always wanted to see people make smart requests and do a little research into if it can be done or not. Not enough do that, but hopefully now with this topic it will improve some.

well told new guy. If all the ''new mappers'' get good feedback or atleast, honest treatment, they might aswell stick around and replace the older decaying community that's made the past and become our future.

Well... calling people douchebags is not necessarily a nice thing to do :-P but from the sound of what kind of people this se7ensins forum or whatever it is, I wouldnt blame you. But why were you even in such a forum (or whatever) anyway?

As far as the topic goes:

I probably have not looked hard enough, but there should probably be a nice guide on how to make a good map request, because the ones where they go MAK ME A MAP! I WANT (a bunch of stuff here) and then ending in the worst part: "kthnxbye" as in they simply expect someone to do it. Now, I am not trying to attack those who do request maps in such a fashion, but that really is not the best way to present a map idea, in my opinion. I think if I were to make a request, I would at least make it somewhat polite. I would also try and give a basic feel for what the map would look like in terms of shape, geometry, textures, et cetera.

!

It would really be nice if some of these people who made requests actually thought some of it out. Not that they are stupid, but sometimes from these request posts, it makes me feel that the person who posted did not thoroughly think the map out.

Well the vast majority of requests are bad ideas to most people :P. But they are almost never clear on what they want the map to be like.

the majority of them could look exactly like poptart's level, halio (invisible box in a a30 skybox) because there is no mention of what terrain should be like. :-P

They just want the stuff sometimes which can be rather.... uhm... I cannot think of the word at this time.

Unless you are providing ideas or constructive critisism perhaps? i find that useful, as other peoples opinions are necessary when making maps/vehicles for other people to use. (Well, asking other people to make them for you, no point getting them to make it if there are too many flaws in the plan, or someone sees a better way to make it.) but constructive critisism. not bagging them out.

Because its rude.
Because you would not like someone to act that way toward you.
Because there is no need for it.
Because its Dennis's forum and his rules.
Because you probably would not act like that in real life.
Because your parents should have taught you better.

Maniac1000 has summed it up nicely however the poster he was summing it up for failed to comply with the other rules and he and his messages were deleted.

Dennis i don't know if you know it already but when i go on the forum it says last post of this topic is someone called "IHateDennis"
It was a spammer whose account and posts were deleted. Since no one else posted the the forum did not update the last post. It is truly as inconsequential as the spammer is.

I have absolutly no idea nor do I care. All I expect is that people abide by the rules of conduct which are nothing more than the common courtesties expected by the general society at large.

Well good luck
It's my 2nd day at the forums and people are telling me
"God, what do they teach you"
"Do it yourself, you have the tools"
and so forth.

Please enforce the rule more, mostly no one I've met is following the rule about abuse and requests

I didn't sign up to get laughed at
