is it possible to create a map that will update and change?
reason i ask is that i was wondering if its possible to create a flood map, where water will rise over the 45 minute map period, creating cut-offs, floodings of rooms and drowning people who are completely submerged for too long. the water will reach the top of the map literally as the 45 minutes are up, and the winner will obviously be the person/team with the most kills/goals/time depending on what game-type there playing. cool features could be added like warning flashing lights and signs etc.
i want to learn about halo map creating, and then create a type of boat-style map, where the boat is sinking, maybe even with titanic skins etc. but first i want to know if its possible for the map to update itself in order for water levels to be rising.
finally, would something like this be stupidly complicated? i've seen some pretty ambishious map designs that i would of thought would be near-impossible.

could you not be clever by taking existing death files? i dont know much about how it all works but, for example, could you not take the damage output from the rocket launcher, slow the ammount of time it takes for the damage to take effect right down, and then merge that to the water file, and then create a "drowning" on-screen graphic, thats exactly timed to the damage rate of your doner rocket launcher.
or does it not work like that? :P

k yah let me find anywhere in the halo campaign where theres enough water for me to sit there for 90 minutes and drown myself.... it even says it in the hek tutorial: water is nothing but fog and an animated plane because there were no missions specifically designed for water

cheatsman is right you would have to make the water an animated scenery and add a death plane in the water (which i have no idea how to do) but i dont know if you can put death planes in the actual scenery object.

this can be done with a animated scenry and a script BUT would be a huge amount of work to get it going.
1 you would have to make a animated scenery with 90 different positions then you would have to make 90 different trigger volumes and write a script to make the scenery move and kill the mc if he was inside the trigger volume that corrspond with the position of the scenery.
It may also cause lagg
