that's a custom model from the looks of it

plus, you could just get everything by using adjutant instead of posting in everyone's thread about how much you love reach tags.

The eyes look pretty damn good, skin needs to be a bit tougher looking, more leathery imo. Either way it still looks pretty nice.

The model I posted is the Chief from Halo 4. It's the ripped model. He has his armor too, but I thought him without it made a funny picture. I'm using it as a reference for the new CMT Chief (no we're not copying it, I was curious how many polys they were using and what detail was actually modeled).

it's too thin and under-detailed to be the official model. I put a reference image next to it, from both the game and the images provided by 343's website, and shapes that cannot be defined by height maps or normal maps (and the general spartan bulkiness) are missing from your "rip".

CMT members are grumpy that I'm showing off the model. You can trust me when I say it is the model. But certain people get upset when I start uploading pictures of content I shouldn't be. Sorry guys. Carry on.

You have no clue what you're talking about do you? I mean, I didn't really want to get in to this, but it's a joke to have you guys saying things like "very badly modeled" when it's the model from the game.

So lets begin.

The damage on the chest is done in the normal. The screws are in the normal, the thigh armor doesn't have smoothing.

You guys are either complaining that a model (ripped from the game) looks fake, or that it's not modeled well. I find this amusing. Believe it or not, it is the model from the game. It has no texture as it wasn't pulled (I'm not honestly sure if we can or not) and ripped models generally come with no smoothing when ripped and as a reference piece, I have no reason to go through and try to smooth it all.

Edit: And if you guys need further proof, here's the model on 343's screens themselves.

If you still think it's fake, I don't know what to tell you. It's the best damn fake I've ever seen.

Edit Edit: Oh and another:

Have I made my point yet?

For those of you who are curious. The Halo 4 Master Chief is a little over 27,000 polys. In comparison the CMT spartan is a little over 7,000. This has to do with them creating the body under the armor which is very detailed.

Crysis amror!

It makes sense that they would model the entire suit under, as well. It allows them to create ultra-realistic proportions, and add on armor where it is logical. And as you can see, the armor placement is very logical. Rather than cover every single square centimetre of the body, they instead focus on centers ofmass, vital areas, and likely targets. Real armor does not cover everything; why should this?

Can I see model, plox?

Members of CMT would rather I not be displaying the model to the internet as people will start begging for it. I would appreciate if those of you who did snag the pic when I had it up, to not post it. Thanks.

that's two different types of protection though

one was optimized to protect from close range slashes and bludgeoning

the other for med-long range pinpoint penetration

todays modern armor is much more practical
1) lighter/more flexibility
2) reduces heat profile
3) quiet
4) armor where it is needed, concentrated armor, rather than a thin shell

Design is perfect for Promethean Knight blade slashes.
It's 26th century.
It's not that hard to believe that humans have a found a way to combine the best of both designs.

A la MC, but until this point, the majority if weapons have been projectile based, and the only thing that can deflect energy swords are energy shielding.

retooling armor for an enemy that they encountered days beforehand is not practical, when combined with research, testing, and deployment.
