So I finally managed to scrape up some cash, and was planning to spend it on a new graphics card for my old computer. I only have around $100, so I can't spend a lot. (It's not like I would pay more than that anyway.) I have heard that ATI cards are best for running Halo with all the proper effects, so I'm thinking about getting an ATI card. Anyone have any suggestions for a good one for under $100?

Yes, 100 or less card is good. 40-100 is usually the good kind. I have a 512 ATI Radeon X650 series one. Its pretty good.

dont believe me? when i went to buy my 360 Arcade at Circuit City, the store price was still $270, on Saturday after the price was globally lowered on Friday. So I asked them why it was still $270, but then the assistant said they would check their website for a price match, and match that price watever it is on their site. and their site said the 360 Arcade was $200. So I bought the 360 for the website price of $200 instead of the store price of $270. :P

.

In easy to understand terms, you can't just shove any random card into your computer. They might not fit in your case (the thing that has everything in it, except the monitor of course). I would buy an 8800GT for my Halo computer, because it's like, $120 and it's awesome, but I can't, because:
1. It won't fit
2. I don't have enough power to supply it with, so I would have to completely change most things in my computer.

The newegg one has free three day shipping so it is exactly that price :P. Pricwatch.com is a very good place for finding parts in my opinion.

Nvidia doesn't show camo properly, and I'd rather have a card that does, because DXTweaker doesn't seem to work for me.

Also,

It says it's for Vista. Does it work on XP? Because that's what I have on MY computer. My parents' computer is the one I'm on now, and is the one with Vista.

Well, It doesn't matter anyway because listen to this. My mom won't et me buy a graphics card because "We already have a good graphics card on my computer, so you don't need one on yours." Is that not the biggest load of crap you've ever heard?
Our "good graphics card" is an NVIDIA GeForce 7100.

I am foolish because my opinion does not match yours?

I prefer ATI over Nvidia because they have better prices. I could get my card at Best Buy for $140. Or, I could get an ATI card with better graphics for $100.
Also, I will not be playing next gen games on my 6 year old Compaq.

And what is a thiong?

Im gonna have to go to ATI for now Nvidia had its prime and now is charging people insane prices while offering abit more performance than ATI and more power-hungry. Ati on the other hand cheaper, less power, almost same performance, better image quality

ok guys theres a few things u guys should consider before buying a video card that u heard is good. before u spend $100 on something ur comp cant even handle, consider this.

if ur going to buy a new video card for an old computer, make sure u know what kinds of cards u can use. most older computers use AGP cards or sometimes AGP Pro. some use regualar PCI but newer computers use PCI express or even PCI express 2.0. you really need you know what kind of card u need befor u buy it.

also u need to make sure u even have room for it inside ur case. if u already have a video card that ur replacing, its usualy not a problem but u can still have parts get in the way if its bigger for different shape.

last thing is that if ur powersupply can even power it correctly. you can have the perfect card for your computer but if the powersupply cant supply enough watts and amps, then it either wont work or will damage the computer.
