SP Map Flood Assault Released!

Hey guys,

Welcome to my thread abouth my first ever made SP map...
Before i start, i want to say this is not a copy/stolen idea from the flood campaign
This map would most probably suck compared to that campaign, but that campaign is still in progress, so this is to keep ur mouths full for a while :)

Abouth the Level;
ITS MY FIRST, So i need some ideas/tips how to improve :).
Assault the Citadel, get in, and stop the leader of an Elite Clan.
You are a flood unit; Flood helps you.
NO LAGG AT ALL. (Atleast for me)

Knows Issues;
It may be a little to hard at The End... (Fixed!)
Not very much cover.
Its not pure action; Sometimes there is a lil walk of a few secs :P
Giant door Deletes after it opened. (made this in a script, not really an issue)
You cant ''win'' the game, after the elite boss is dead, the game will not end automaticly.

Map will soon be on Halomaps.org, available for download, till then, the link to mediafire :)

Also, be waiting for more SP maps by me... As the title says, this is just a Trial, and im planning on making alot more SP maps... As im a fan of the flood, you will most certainly ally with them :).

Story-Line Script

The Flood; Recently Released by The Covenant, Contained, then Released again by the UNSC. The flood starts a campaign on the Halo ring, Expanding in knowledge, they try and Take Key position, and start Expanding the already made Brain Form.

Priorities;

-The Control Room (to prevent anyone from activating halo)
-The Silent Carthographer (Map Room; to prevent anyone to learn the location of the control room)
-Truth & Reconcilliation (To expand from the Ring)


Control Room (Blue colored is Trial!)(Red is Unfinished!)
The Floods Top priority is the control room, And the Flood Started Exploiting its location. Covenant was detected, flood immidiatly assaults in close range. After Succesfully Occupying the control room, The Covenant Strikes Back, with an assault. After You've defeated the covenant siege, You march with youre flood allies to a near, Vital area, to prevent any more Covenant attacks.
End mission 1
Specials;
Not Much Flood allies, Flood Wasn't very expanded at that moment.

The Silent Carthographer

After The Flood Secured the location of the control room, they dont want to let anyone else know the location of it, so they siege the Map Room. The Humans controlled this location, Yet the Covenant Didn't Appreciate that.. A Covenant Capital ship hovered above this location, dropping its finest warriors into battle. Unsc, aswell as Covenant, where suprised by the flood, wich where taking key positions, and eventually taking control of the control room.

The Flood, Has Succesfully Taken charge of the biggest part of the ring, So the Covenant Tries to Evacuate.. One ship was caught, and sieged... Truth & Reconcilliation
End Mission 2
Specials;
Large-Scale Battles. Flood Expanded, has alot of units available.
3 Factions, none are allied. Classic Free-For-All


Truth & Reconcilliation

In Progress


Bug/Issue Fixes;
-Music! now starts up correctly.
-Spawning! Edited the script, so that not every single grunt has to die, before the next could even possible spawn.
-Level of hardness; Before entering the control room, the fight was a little bit unfair, covenant just crushed flood withouth resistance; Fixed this.

Gonna download it. The map shows plenty of promise. I will write a review and give critiscm once I've finished playing.

edit: Done. First of all, I would like to comment about the length of the level. It was waaay too short, I reached the control rooom in less than 5 minutes. Also, there were far too many Jackals. I hated the fact that there was only 1 checkpoint. Also, you should have put enemies in the control room.

Lenght; It was a trial, of what was coming in the feature, thats wy it was so short. This is because im very busy with school, and wasn't able to work alot on the map.

Checkpoint; Wierd, i've placed alot of them... Yet i used the game_save scripts, wich was reffered bad by the community, im fixing them in the full mission.

Control Room; You must mean "MORE" enemies in the control room, right? because i put AI in the control room, they spawned fine for me.


Im soon writing a Idea down for my mini-campaign, if im finished with my homework today.

Im happy you Replied... i've had 15 downloads till now, but you are the only guy actually posting, thanks for that.

You used a script that slept until an encounter was dead before continuing right? Never do that. Because maybe some of the Jackals before the control room were left alive, so the script didn't trigger.

Yep...

But how to let them spawn properly then? use scripts like;

(script dormant test
(sleep_until (volume_test_objects trigger_1 (players))15)
(ai_place flood_lol)
)


But i dont know how to let multiply scripts run at the same time.. so i placed all scripts in a chain. I can easily make multiply scripts from that, but how?

Not bad for a first attempt, but:

Music was terribly placed and using the ingame menu to change the volume or even stop it has no effect
No variety with grunts
No variety with Jackels
I did not know when the level ended as nothing happened when I reached the control room and eliminated all the enemies
The sentinals should have attacked the three swordsmen
three swordsmen is a bit much.
Getting in to the control room was nearly impossible so dev moded it.
Seeing your allies just spawn is always a bad thing.
The way you destroyed the forunner colour scheme.
AI took some time to react to your prescence (only a couple of seconds though)

Overall 3/10 but seeing as this is your first try 4/10

I look forward to seeing your next sp map and its improvments

-the battle before the entrance was already an issue.

Hi I downloaded the map Flood Assult and i finally got it into the list but every time i play it it sez gathering exception data and ends the game how do you get the command bar up?

did you open it with the console?
if you have dev or the console enabled for CE press the tilde key (~) and type

dont bother pressing shift. i just typed ~ so you would know the exact button. coz some people mistake the ` button with the ' button.

i havnt played the level in a long time and as far as i can remember i didnt get execptions at that point.

it should answer all the questions.

and for devmode. It's a developer mode that is designed for the map builders to debug the maps to see if they need to do minor/major tweaks and where.
but it can also be used to "rig" or just mess up the map. but every time you restart a round/game/halo the map goes back to normal. Have so ever seen where some person randomly can die. no matter what you do to him, nothing seems to affect him. its one of alldev's commands.

its "cheat_deathless_player 1"

search for the full dev command list on the site. "1" means on and "0" means off.

what is wrong every time i enter cheats some gay assed grey crapy writing comes up and sez a load of crap about the cheat not being able to work wth

Right click on Halo Custom Edition on the desktop and put -console -devmode into Properties.
This means you can insert cheats but you will not be able to go into online games.

What I want to know is what he did to fix those freaking errors with Tool...

You try extracting b40 and then compiling it with tool after adding all of the textures....
