It means you're out of RAM, save your project and restart your computer.

its happened to me before, i know how to fix. go to custimize, then preferences, then the MAXscript tab. Under memory, set it to 500 or whatever, to boost memory. Then restart gmax, and it will now work!

64-128 should be fine. Also, typing "gc()" in the mini-listener, in the lower left corner, runs the garbage collector, freeing memory - but be warned, it also clears the undo stack

Yeah it is quite a large map but is 1% per minute normal?

Unfortunatly, for a large map, yes.

I just discovered a way to speed it up. It was exporting more newline characters than it needed to. It only needs a newline character to terminate each array element, while the other newlines can be tabs. All the extra delay was from scrolling the listener window. This doesn't require post processing with a text search/replace, like I was talking about with Koo294.
This script is based on the most recent one posted by Choking Victim, which exports geometry regions and marker radius, and now it exports from gMax almost as fast as from 3ds. I also added a checksum field, and after I add a couple other features to it, I'll upload it to halomaps. But you can enjoy a quicker export now:

Install a new program recently?
meshes are linked to a 'frame' node?
I could take a look at it and tell you what's wrong with it ...

Just by looking at that picture, you can tell it's way over polly.

those road likely have open edges or z-buffering. They need to be part of the terrain, and it all needs to be sealed, like a vessel, no holes or wierd mc-escher geometry, just a continuous surface which defines a volume, or several continuous surfaces, if they don't overlap. If they overlap, you'll get z-bufferds!
A chocolate bunny would be an example of a sealed world. One continuous surface (if it had only an inside surface). 2 chocolate bunnies occupying the same space, overlapping, would be an example of z-buffered triangles.
Just remember, chocolate bunnies.

Fools. The runtime error (out of memory) means you haven't allocated enough memory to MAXScript. Change that under Customize --> Preferences and go to the MAXScript tab. From there, change the Initial Heap size to 100 (I use 100). The maximum size is 1000, but every time I set it as such, gmax refuse to start.

I would recommend using the optimize modifier to reduce your poly count expediently.

Dude Gonzo, nobody is going to care or benefit from a reply to a topic from May of 2009. What were you even thinking?

Pie is good for everything.

I would think you could be a little more respectful than that...I found (and replied) to this forum hoping to find an answer to an array index error. I found this thread because of the user that had a link to a faster JMS exporter (which I am also in need of). However, I saw that no one had answered his question, so I went ahead and answered it. Anyways, my sole focus was finding a solution, and since I don't usually search the forums this long, I am not in the habit of checking the latest post date.

And even if I was, what makes you think I care? No one has posted any solutions to this problem applicable to me, so I was hoping I could get some insight instead of being ridiculed for posting on a thread that isn't current anymore. This begs the question: why did you take time out of your day to post such a seemingly disrespectful comment that provides absolutely no help whatsoever? If you weren't trying to be mean by wording your comment like that, my apologies. It certainly appears that way, however.
