I'm trying to get music in a map (Clocks-Coldplay) and I wanna be able for the player to turn it on and off. Also how do I convert a 5:08 song into a .sound?

Anything past 3:00 dosen't work.
You could break it up into a intro, loop, and end though.

Not true. I've compiled sounds with Tool that are over 3 minutes long into one sound tag.

You have to compile the sound with the flag 'split long sound into permutations' checked at the top of the sound tag. If the sound is split into really short permutations, it can be as long as you want.

For turning it on and off, you could write a script with a device, where if you touch the device, it turns on / off the music. I don't know if all the players throughout the map will hear it though.

Ok so I was able to cut the song into two peices ( 2:31 and 2:36) and I'm using the Halo Sound Converter but it's not working. I can't remeber the command for tool's sound command. Anyhelp?

Halo Sound Converter = fail. Any sound I try with that thing falls to pieces. I'm sure there's a lot of people here that have problems with Halo Sound Converter, so I'm curious to see if someone has a solution to this problem.

Actually, when Jesse asked me to compile his sounds, I used the sound converter, with a certain setting, and it worked.

youy need to make a sound folder with both sections of music in, call it whatever you want, put it in data/sound and the command is

tool sounds sound\[name of your sound folder] ogg 1

this will make 1 sound with 2 permutations of the 2 sections

^ This. Also, if you're going to compile in OGG format then make sure you have the updated OGG Vorbis .dlls in your Halo CE folder or else the sounds might not compile correctly or have bad quality:

I have it completely opposite. I only use Sound Converter because Tool fuxes it up all the time. If I convert it to ogg vorbis it works for me.

I used to try to use the sound converter, it worked for me, but split large files into pieces and put them in terrible bitrates, so they sounded horrible.

Tool and Toll++ never worked for me, always complained about the format or something... It's been a while since I've toyed around with the HEK so I do not remember exactly what it used to tell me.

The script itself is relatively simple.

(global boolean isOn false)

(script dormant toggle_noises
(if
(= isOn false)
(begin
(sound_looping_start "[SOUND_LOOPING]" none 1)
)
(begin
(sound_looping_stop "[SOUND_LOOPING]")
)
)
)
