use task manager to check whether there is another haloce.exe or halo.exe running. If so, end those processes.
Otherwise, scan yr comp for viruses and malware.

Run in safemode.
Make sure you exit halo via the Quit button in the menu , dont just close it by pressing the windows key.
An error occurs sometimes.

Could be that you're running so many processes at the moment, that Halo just doesn't have enough memory available to run.

I searched and I found that it's internet explorer 8 security update(KB969798) that cause the error on a spanish website but I don't want to delete it. I hope someone will create a patch.

This is probably what it is, because I got the same error a while ago, and closing a few other programs fixed it.

It's basically force quitting. Like you know how if you have an application, let's say Firefox, that stops responding, and in the applications tab, you click "End task", over and over again, and FINALLY it closes? If you do end process, it closes immediately.

for the others who get this problem: I fixed it by deleting internet explorer 8 security update(KB969798).For more details: http://mexablog.com/2009/06/13/cannot-allocate-required-memory-some-other-application-has-loaded-where-halo-needs-to-be-located/ it's in spanish but you can translate it with google if you don't speak spanish

EDIT: my father reinstalled the update after I delete it and halo stopped working again so I have the proof this is the problem.

Create a topic special just for the sticky, and quote all the crap from the xfire froums.
