I know I usually refrain from asking on the forums, but anyways

Well, first when I did the bubble shield without the biped method, i made it equipment and that works perfectly. however, now i do it this way which is neccassery, i have made it a biped, but i don't know how to self destruct a biped after some time? or atleast it won't work, with an equipment in the same tag it does work for only the equipment, but still not the biped?

So, can anyone talk me through how to make a self-destruct timer for a biped?
I know it should work, there are several biped guns in maps, however i dont know the names anymore so i can't rip em to examine, if you can't help then looking for those maps also helps

e1: and yes, i have ticked the box "destroy on death"

Try making a creation effect which spawns a damage effect, but set the delay bounds to like 20, so it waits 20 seconds before spawning the damage.

it could work if i set the health to 999 so you cant break it, with a damahe of 999, but then again, i'd not prefer killing everyone who's standing in it? xD

it ehm, takes away that tiny special feeling of safety =P

You could make it have health of 1 with a damage of 1. Then, make all projectiles reflect from it.

Does the bubbleshield even reflect projectiles. I dont recall it does.

True, I forgot about the property of it that it doesn't take any damage, so a damage of 1 is perfect

You cant put a health of 1. It still takes a few shots from an assault rifle to destroy a bubble shield.

Also fix the particles inside it.
And get a new sound or make your own sound for the bubbleshield deploying.
Fix the rasterizer bitmap so that it doesnt distort to much.

It is meant to do that, if i dont want it to distort i would have removed the smoothing of the hexagons, which it was in previous builds
the rastarizer is totally unneeded effort, you're always doing that "make elite fp bones" and stuff, you should look into it yourself actually, and realise that it's unneeded frustrations while it can be done ALOT easier

And I don't see why I couldn't put a health of 1, AR's are not related to it in any way, as i will be adding a damage tag emitting 1 damage.
that's enough to not kill the players inside.

It is, but only by explosives atm, forgot to uncheck the box in the collision file, so yea if you shoot it it explodes too, except the shield still stays there because they're 2 different objects.

I need to fix that, merging them to 1 model and set up a proper collision file, however it's the least of my worries now, I've just compiled a map with the damage effect method, pray it works

oh well, that's good for you, but we cannot add bipeds to projectiles so it doesnt work in this case.

*facepalm* it doesn't have it at in the attachement list, but it does in the effect tag, it was what i already did days ago, how silly of me, saying something is impossible what i already did myself T_T

This is bad, we're progressing backwards =/

Anyways, I tried adding it to the grenade projectile, but it remains after the projectile is gone, what could be expected because that wasn't what I needed, it needed to be destroyed, not how to tag a bubble shield because it works mostly the same

I suppose it's something with the collision model, It just doesn't die for some reason, if it did it should dissappear, since i checked the box destroyed after dieing...

It's the only place with that flag, I didn't refer the flag to be in the collision model

Already did that, to no avail.

Uploaded the collision model,
If someone can try to get it set up properly i'd appreciate it, to test it you could change the names in it to fit another model, basically this one contains the outside layer of the shield

you could make it some weird material, and make the damage modifiers mean that the effect only did damage to that materail

Problem is, it won't die at all, and I'm not sure what causes it

The idea of materials is very smart too, I'll do that when the bubble shield will die at all, it's a super invincable shield =/

mm i dont kow f this is possible but...
dont model the bubble shield put the source (the equipment item) then play around with the settings for it n make it a grenade type. so whenu throw it it explodes into a bubble n yeh. then u set how long the explosion lasts. which if ur going to be really accurate, 20 secs just like in halo 3. but if r sucessful i cant wait to use it n camp with a shottie like in halo 3. =P lol

a biped is attachement, so it remains after the original is dead...


wait wat, it shouldn't, because the particles die too...

AGH I CANT FIGURE IT OUT

i'm going to try making it die-able first, i hope someone can set the collision for me so it can die?

I dont' have much experience with setting up collision model settings, so if someone is kind enough
