Ok this is my first map mod and i would like some critisism.

(No longer wanting tags as I am done with adding tags).

This map will have odst ai ,as odst is OUT!

This is a sp map.

I need a good hud also.

NEWS:

Ok I have almost fineshed with AI and I am moving on to ading objectives and a hud (< only "TAG" i need) and then ill tweak it up a bit (idk what yet though) and scale down sise and see what i ahve from there.

Remember i will post updates when i can on this post and on separate posts.

0 is the default team. (the one set in guerilla) and is the red team.

1 is the players team (single player only) and also in the blue team for multiplayer,

DO NOT BE SCARED BY ALL THIS TEXT YOU SEE, READ IT AND IT WILL HELP YOU.

Ok, First off:

Holy Crap, You seemed to just placed Random Elites everywhere on the map.

Add a total of say, 13 elites, that way, you would be on a team with 6 elites while the other would be 7.

Have the elites have a higher health and more skilled.
Add a challenge to the Ai map, not just a "Shoot-them-all-to-hell" type of map.
So what i mean by this is, Get them Moving Continuously, not just standing there, Get their accuracy more higher, and dodging higher, that way you can't just rush out to the elites and kill them, you would need to take cover plenty of times.

As for the map... No.

Beaver Creek, Blood Gulch, Hell, any Original Maps from Halo is a No No In my opinion.

My Suggestion:


use the map No_Remorse

AI's
Then make it 13 Ai's, Placed in Strategic Locations
(Such as 3 in a group, and a really hard one by itself, Also Means that you scan the map, and figure out the most Active Spots to fight in)

1-6 of them being Spartans, Helping you out.
and the Rest 1-12 Being Covenant Elites.

GIVE THE AI'S DIFFERENT WEAPONS!!!

Every map almost has all Ai's with Assault Rifles or Plasma Rifles, DO NOT DO THIS

Instead, Once again,

Give an AI a sniper rifle, and place him on a high place, like the roof of the buildings.
Give another AI a shotgun and place him into a close quarters combat zone.
Give another AI a battle rifle and place him in a "Mid" combat zone.

This then leads into another Suggestion:

ADD COVER.
Add some crates, or some covenant Weapon Holders, Blown up Vehicles, WHATEVER YOU CAN USE AS COVER.
Without Cover > NO time for Shield regeneration > Death.

place them in strategic locations, and whatever you do:
DO NOT GO OVERBOARD WITH THE COVER.
Do not lay lines and lines of Cover attached to each other, like in the
"Marines vs covenant maps"

If you follow these Instructions, YOU can make a good AI map.
AND REMEMBER!
TAKE YOUR GODDAMN TIME. DO NOT RUSH THINGS.

My suggestion would be to not use Beaver Creek as it's tiny as hell. But it's your mod, do what you like.

Also, based on from what I know about ODST, make the Magnum weak against shields but cause headshots, and give the trigger damage permanent and temporary impulse to give it the kickback that it has.

Tighten the error angle on the SMG, scale the crosshair to I'd say 0.5, and add a zoom. Disable error while zoomed if you like.

Ok ill take that into account and i WILL use a diff bsp for final this is to test my ai.
And the maps i realesed are old and v2 has a fix on ai. But the one in the new vids are the up to date 1s.

Something like that new halo game coming out.

Oh and I noticed you added some Ai's with different weapons, so that's good.
However, they still look a bit too easy, see if you can get them to dive or stay behind covers more often.
Grenade Tossing is a must.
Elites however seemed to be armed with only plasma Rifles...
Give an Elite perhaps a Beam Rifle (I'm sure there's a beam rifle tag here on halomaps)
or just add a Jackel with a Carbine (not plasma Pistol)

Still, there are a lot of AI's, but once you change the map I'll see if it still looks
"crammed"

wait, you can do that?
i dont remember of the elites and jackals having these animations.
anyway, your map is more or less my kind of standard (i make AI maps for fun, but don't typically release them), but it looks good.

Yeah, they do... sort of, you have to add IK points in the model_animations tag. For the jackal though, it's looks retarded sometimes.

Sigh OK, big paragraph time again.

The Elites with the big Heads. (have no clue what they're called)
Do not Slam em into a group of 5.
Keep it at only 1, with a 1 or 2 minor elites next to him.
Give him more health, much much more health, sort of like a mini boss that you don't want to F$#& with.

Actually, Give all your Elites/ODSTs more health, and keep you're health at normal.
and work on they're accuracy, they seem to be mindlessly shooting targets.

PLEASE. Stop using beaver creak, just Use No_remorse to Test things out, hell just use a different map.

You see, if you use beaver creek to test it out, then when you use a different map to make it final, IT will Completely be different, then you have to script the Ai's all over again.

So what I'm Saying is:

USE A DIFFERENT MAP NOW. DO NOT do anything else until you get a new map in there.
Then start working on the Ai's, weapons, and Cover Placements.

The Cover you're using are nice, but here's some other ones you can use:

Take A photo of the top view of the map No_remorse.
USE XFIRE, Just upload them, then tell me when you have it uploaded so i can check it out.

One with all that Ai and Cover you put in,

and the other one without the Ai's nor Cover, just the map itself.

I'll help you out with where you should insert the cover and Ai's

What's with the fully automatic sniper AI? It looks like all you did was take the assault rifle one, and change the weapon tag. Change up firing parameters, and tweak around the tags. Try and put in some effort. Just putting AI on the beach doesn't really make me excited at all.

Just watched the video, It's a good thing you added them into the city, however:

-I see no team AI support
-No covers, you instantly got raped by the elites.
-However! i am glad you made them harder than most AI maps.

do you know how to make a squad of ai follow you eg.

5 ai follow you constanly while your on a ceratin team?

You don't have to get the AI to follow you, just put them in certain areas so IF you were at the area they are there to help you.

Take away the brutes, they can ruin the gameplay.

And hunters come in packs of two.

adding ai's on the beach gives them no cover what so ever, best off to leave them at the city, here's what you should do:

add drop pods around the beach (where you and you're odst's started off)

make it so the covenant are IN the city not the beach.

DO NOT MAKE THEM SPAWN LIKE F$@*IN FARM RATS DAMMIT.

ok i will do all that.and dose anyone know how to have a pistol reticule and zoom but ar ammo meter? btw i did know hunter come in two but they wouldent spawn that way :(.

Copy the pistol HUD. Open it up. Under "Static Elements" and "Meter Elements", copy over the assault rifle's meter. Copy over all the values, including anchor offsets, sequence indexes, alpha multipliers, alpha bias, etc.
