is there a way to edit a tag in a map after it has gone through tool?
for example let's say you put a h3 AR in a map, but you realise it is too weak, so you want to change it.
it is possible to edit the AR's values in the map itself without editing the tag in gurilla then recompiling the map?

the only way i know is to convert the map to PC using ConvertCE, then edit the values in Halo Mapping Tools, then converting it back to CE.

just wanted to know if there is an easier way

nope,

what I do is just open the tag in Anvil, make the tweak, keep the tag open, recompile, keep CMD open, run the game in windowed and see if that worked.

If you edit a tag in a map after being compiled, it will not be saved in your tags directory. Meaning when it is compiled again, the tag will be the same as it was before you made the change.

Seriously, how hard is it open upen up a tag in Guerrilla, save, and recompile?

Or if you're trying to release something quick you can just edit in 5 seconds with something like that. I've done that a few times.

just compile it in Tool++, it is fast so it will not take to much time compiling it again

Thank you! This will really help me a lot! now if this program's map rebuilding function works, I won't have to touch tool (which i am really, really, confused with)

for some reason when i download from there, the file is corrupted(i think)...
so i googled eschaton and now i got v7

both links lead to the same mediafire download page.
anyways i solved the error by unzipping it with winrar instead of windows.

hmm for some reason after I edit a tag's values with eschaton (i tried to change the AR's damage) it doesn't save. There isn't a save button like in HMT. After changing the value, i clicked on another tag, then went back to the ar's damage tag, and the values goes back to the original. aka eschaton didn't save it. I tried with both 8.0.1 and 7 and it is still like that =/

anyone familiar with eschaton can help? @_@

o.0 ok i solved it. it seems that i must press 'enter' after keying in order for it to save. Eschaton is pretty helpful overall too. map rebuilding works, but is slow. (as in i tried rebuilding b30 once without importing in any tags and it took over 15 minutes)

Yes I forgot to tell you that you have to press enter to save any value. It also has a dependency swapper which is pretty good. You could like switch a gun's projectile to an AI or biped or another weapon :P.
