Here we are, Cody Smith, Aaron0819, J'ean-Luc Keller, and Red Haze!

We are rebuilding Desert Dunes, and this is the new thread, the old one was for Helipad Studios, but after we disbanded, Cody still wanted to make the map, and I just stayed on, so now, as the 4 of us get back to work, we are making a new BSP, new weapons, redoing the vehicles, adding new textures, and making this map, once again, all original.

We will update the progress as we go, once again, wanting feedback to what the game should have and be like, because as the players, you guys have the voice. We will take all ideas into consideration.

(No negative posting please, and only respond if you have something nice to say, otherwise, talk to Dennis, we have no use for Flamers, or Spammers.)

These are drawings done by me; although crude, these are what the map is basically going to be.

What exactly is the first picture. It seems like a cliff or something but I can't quite make it out.

I think you should do the half-sand-buried buildings in at least one place. That effect looks epic.

Storage hanger, its used to store supplies, ammunition, weapons and vehicles.
(a.k.a. Warehouse)

I'm not seeing the gameplay here,
It just looks like a plane with a giant mountain in the center. It reminds me too much of hugeass D:

Its about the size of huge ass, but starts out with 2 bases, one on each side, designed for large team battle, or single flag CTF.

Its got a lot in for it, so wait to see a map model first. Not going to say it will be up today or tomorrow, but be patient, we are working on it.

Remember, we are posting as we make it, these images were done last week.

Make sure to make it actually have stuff in it. Huge maps with nothing in them are boring (ehm... every single big map out...), but if you actually stick stuff in them (uhh... fallout 3 world map?), they can be epic.

Yes, you would do better not putting the mountain right across the center, but rather move it more to the side.

Then also put the sand covered buildings and vehicles so that it isn't just an empty plane.

Also I suggest not putting a big emphasis air battles, but rather on ground vehicles and actual players

Not going to get far into detail, its very early in making for the 3rd build, we hope this is the final version, so count on it being good, we are making it with the player in mind.

But its not going to be a 20 minute vehicle drive to the enemy.

I like the mountain Idea. But maybe put some holes along the bottom, so people that prefer going on-foot or in a land vehicle can go through.

due to the limits of halos engine, a hugeass sized map with all the detail probly wont be possible, quality, not quantity. so the maps final size will be less big still big and have all the little goodies so you wont see just a barren waste land, theme is post apacolyptic 1990's, being out in the middle of now where prevented gettin the dunes wiped clean, but cut off from the rest of the road, only way in or out of the dunes were 2 tunnels on each side, but were blocked off to prevent outsiders from going inside the desert valley, how ever a civil war broke out between the servivers of the dunes

Here is a model of the hanger done by FACE (mike), an older member of former Helipad Studios.

Take in note, its a storage hanger, not an airplane hanger.

This is early in development, the BSP is still being made, there is nothing but concepts and planning as of now, we are trying to include the community to help in this maps creation.

If you notice you will see that their post has a small "edited" under it. When I replied that "edited" was not there.

When I replied it said nothing about being in progress. I would even go far enough to say that the "edited" popped up after reading my post and wanted to tell people it was still in development.

And now I see that, but I didn't care to put a little "edited" under my post and tell about how I saw it now.

Looks good, although I take it the machinegun is still being worked on, also make the doors a bit more detailed and the sides of the humvee (not the doors) more detailed aswell, maybe strap a plastic gasoline carton on the side.

I suggest not letting people sit in the back seat, it is too hard to shoot from, from my experience of other vehicles with enclosed side seats. Have the guy sit semi-casually on the far back... maybe two people...

ya, buggy, the back two seats may just have them sitting sideways hanging out a bit, and back seat(all the way back where gunner is, there will be a standing gunner and a person sitting facing backwards. and doors may be removed and replaced with something(maybe netting i don't know lol)

and exception/everyone, it was a quick rendition of the hanger, im working on a better one...lolz
