They're attacking me even though I have them set as default/human!

And the cyborg + ai bipeds are set to player/human in the teams.

0 = human

Yes, I know. That shouldn't be necessary. player and human should, by default, be allies.

It's just one that tests if player is in a trigger volume and if he is, make ai run a command list.

There's no enemies, so they don't have anything better to do. Once you break the allegiance, you're an enemy, so they chase you down. What states are the AI set to?

alert, moving... I'll put some enemies in other than the player and see what happens.

In multiplayer:

0 - Red Team
1 - Blue Team

In Singleplayer:
0 - Unit Defined (drop-down menu labeled "default team" under the $$$UNIT$$$ section)
1 - Player
2 - Human
3 - Covenant
4 - Flood
5 - Sentinels
6-9 - Unused (Presumably usable, just does not have a official name)
