I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and am getting really bad FPS on halo, it starts off fine at 500+ but then gradually declines till its 15-20 FPS, when i was running it on Windows XP the FPS was fine, is anyone else having this issue?

and any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Get a better g card. Check how much memory you got. We will assume 7 takes 512-756 megs. So plan accordingly. I have no problems with 7 so far. For the mean time lower the settings.

Did you use XP before? 7 uses more memory so it might have been just enough to make the game really lagggy.

Turn off decals. I'm 100% positive this is the problem.

If you have Windows 7 Professional, use XP mode. If not, do what everyone else is saying and turn off decals, I guess.

Upgrade to XP.

I lol'd.

Personally have had better performance with Windows 7 in 80% of cases over windows xp, and nearly 100% of cases over vista.

If, you have a wallpaper that alternates, change the intervals to a larger time span. That usually works.

I don't have any problems. Although I have a BFG Geforce 9400GT 1GB. But I have no problems at all.

It's not the OS, it's the GFX card. Nvidia 8 and above (or something like that) and above has this problem.

Do you mind telling me what framerate you get on 7 with everything maxed? I have the same card and am planning to upgrade to 7 next year.

Oh, wait. That was with vsync on. Without vsync I get 145 FPS. Also, i'm not using an LCD monitor like most of you guys are. I'm using an old 19 inch compaq monitor.

like what?

Most people have VGA cable connectors. And VGA has a capped refresh rate of about 60mhertz. So if your rendering at 200fps. Your screen is only goind to show it at 60fps. So your having PC process so many frames when it does not need to. Also your eyes see at about 40-65 fps.

And ninjas move at roughly, oh, say,
80,000 fps.

Stop trying to be funny. You cannot measure velocity with fps.

Screens do not use feet per second.
