Pretty lights are pretty :P That would look awesome as a server room floor with the lights glowing and fading off so ti looks like they are cables under the floor. :P

The cylinder below the barrel shouldnt have a hole in it.
Your missing the box that connects the barrel and the cylinder.
The barrel should have 3 spokes going from 2/3 to the end.
The barrel needs to be larger in radius.
The handle is blocky.
The triangles should be beveled in, and not as deep.
Make the chin guard rounder.
The 2 rail/handle thing on the battle rifle should be thinner.

I dont use underscores, my battle rifle max file is called "Battle Rifle FP.max".

Note: Animators all just coincidentally put the hand on the handle and cover most of it anyway.

There's no need to waste so many polys to make a handle 'round' and please whiny little Advancebo :P

Any gun ever made, was based off something, no matter how different it looks and such, it should be based off a gun. If you ever did your history the m16 was designed off the m1 grand. Yeah thats right. There is so much you guys don't know (except for penguin, I don't know as much as him).

are you guys friggin kidding me right now? this is a 2 pages argument that stemmed from your laziness in modeling. you wanna know what to do? dont make the handle a damn box. animations DO show the handle and you CAN tell that its a box. put some curves in it.

secondly, the DMR is not a battle rifle. thats why its called "DMR" and not "battle rifle".

third, i dont care what your gun is based off of. if youre going to take up 2 pages arguing over something so irrelevant, then you need to work on more than your modeling skills.

E: and bo your analogy for the br and DMR being to the m16 and m4 isnt correct. the m4 is automatic, the dmr isnt. also, the dmr and the br look too different. anybody can tell the difference, where it is, by comparison, much more difficult to tell the difference between an m4 and m16 at glance.

in short, stop using analogies because theyre not helping you make your point

Right, the things you make maps for:
1. So that a lot of people play it.
2. So it looks cool and attracts people to play it...

If you had a bit of logic then in order to attract people to play a map then it needs to look good (and better than other maps) right? Well, that does not JUST mean that you stick a load of ripped weapons or boxes in the map that are cool to use. Or in most cases a nuke launcher...

Here's some advice: The people who play your maps (YOUR audience) have to look at the images, and expect to see something that looks cool and nice. So then your map will get chosen over another map, or played more...

Now by making things like the handle not a BOX, you will be making the weapon look more interesting... So it will attract people's attention...

Don't come out with some bullshizen like Halo isnt real... you should just NOT model or make assests if you are coming up with that boloks.

^ not that I don't disagree with you, but I started playing this game because I saw videos of Extincion, Coldsnap, etc, and I'm sure a good bulk of those who still play CE did for similar reasons. Those maps despite their terrible gameplay are still some of the most played. If these people wanted good gameplay they'd just play the regular stock maps. People join because they want a truly custom feel and that usally means scarabs and nukes. Afterall, in what other game can you switch between traveling on foot to drivig massive life sized jets capable of carrying 10+ allies? In this respect, CE has become more war realistic than even newer games! Its these things So often times getting people to play your maps does mean filling them with overpowered weapons and ripped content.

... but don't make your handle a box, it's lazy and stupid ._.
