Optimized to 1900 triangles. Thanks to killzone for model.

Does anyone know how to deal with these reach textures? I mean removing transperency and stuff.

Removing transparency? Do you mean the alpha channel blending with the diffuse? If the texture is mono_alpha (most likely the case) the alpha won't extract, what you need to do is change the format to dxn in the viewer and extract which will store the alpha in the green channel and the diffuse in the red. Don't bother with the blue channel as its the inverted red to make it monochrome (black and white). Make sure your in "Advanced mode" to change the format. Really should just tell gravemind to default the formatting for those textures to dxn, that or see if he can get the alpha to extract correctly :L

Opening the tif files and separating the alpha channels is actually really easy if you have photoshop.

Install this: http://www.fnordware.com/superpng/SuperPNG_v2.0_win.zip into your photoshop folder

Extract a tiff bitmap with adjudant, open in photoshop. Resave that tiff image as a png, then open your newly saved PNG file WHILE HOLDING SHIFT (NECESSITY). A dialogue box will pop up, saying SuperPNG Input Options. Select the option, alpha appears as separate channel, and tick Always bring up this dialogue, then set it to defaults. After this, you won't have to keep holding shift when you want to change SuperPNG options. This should give you the alpha channels separated from the RGB diffuse. You can then resave it as a tiff to be compiled for halo ce.

If you don't separate the alpha channel and instead just try to compile it through tool while it looks transparent, tool will multiply the RGB by the Alpha and create a darker diffuse (This is NOT what you want). I strongly suggest separating the alphas.

I already did that and it worked. Then I just reduced noise and texture looks good now.

I would extract alphas and all, compile, extract from HCE, replace, and recompile.

I would say, yes and no, but i think we all know the answer is no and yes.

In all honesty, I quite like the simplicity of it.

You could call it a Bolt Gun. As in lightning bolt.

That looks like Portent.

My love for Portent died off pretty quickly after playing on it for half an hour.
(though the graphics are still amazing!)

...eh, but whatever. I'll still be looking forward to what you two have to present :P

(love how you two have your own team logo now. lol)

It's a window covered in rain droplets.

That's your big reveal. You've finally worked out how to bypass Halo's limits and make high poly objects with super high-resolution effects affecting them.

I should probably remind you about the double negative but it has no relevance here

I have an idea: human vs human firefight.

Innies versus the player.

Taste of your own medicine, delivered in multiple waves and/or rounds.

That's indeed clearly Portent.
Inb4 some other firefight map. Numbers will be used to indicate score.
Woah.

I'm going to stop you right there. When I play Halo, I expect to fight aliens. Fighting humans as spartans are boring. http://i.imgur.com/3Xy2j3q.gif

Right, it's expected. All the more reason to do something unexpected.

I'd be interested in a UNSC vs Insurrection firefight, because it's something that hasn't been done before.

Actually I think it has. Not sure if it ever got finished but there was a project awhile back based off that. Also, if I remember correctly, Delicon20 was doing something to that affect.

Dennis, I think I found a glitch. If you refresh the page at a very close time to which someone posts, you get this result.

Yes there are numerous race conditions in the underlying database design. The ones I am concerned with are those that cause a deadlock. The msg 6072 of 6071 messages numbering one is minor and although on the list is low priority since it evens itself out in the next re-fresh. Thanks for notifying me.

I started working on a small forerunner outpost yesterday, and today i've been incorporating it to my cave system for my WIP.

Note: The weird bevels are not actual part of the model, they're just for shaded light so don't worry if they look fugly you won't see them in game.

Any tip as to how I should do? I don't know anything about smoothing, I always use "auto smooth". Also, if I wanted to detail this building more, where and what should I add for better looking result?

Don't use auto-smooth, learn manual smoothing. It isn't rocket science.

Valid statement. Invaluable skill too.

Regardless, that's looking nice Opsy. At least, once you show more love to those cliff details. :P

Thanks, yes I'm trying to model something higher quality, since I have more polys available on this map. Regardless, it's a new thing to learn for me since I've never had to actually detail stuff if I wanted it to fit in the maps I made.

Too bad this picture shows the Worse cliffs I made this week :) This one was mostly trying to integrate my first serious attempt at forerunner modelling.
