Depends on how fast they work or how proficient they are with their toolset,

Some people are very proficient with complicated tools. Then you get all of the youtube animators that take like two or three hours to make one or two seconds of animation..... with AUTOMATED VECTOR TOOLS .... AND AUTOMATIC TWEENS...

That is some disgusting tiling, have you thought about using a bitmap bigger than 256*256?

why? its like 5-6 pages of mathematic formulas and my own interpretation of Halo CE + many months of testing. but will give you some basics. Since almost none of the original and tsce variables (damage_values,collisions,materials,projectiles...) are left on my modified tagset... except astethics and some effects. i use many mathematical formulas to calculate the ttk, range, bullet damage, vitality... then i test it, then i tweak the variables............ I will not explain it because is hard. Plasma weapons are good against shields and human weapons against flesh. the point is that this mod isnt just a normal noobified tagset came from a tard like masterz1337.

Every single Campaign map of any 343i game is #hit, specially the third act. midnight from halo 4 is the worst.

Masters is right, very often the person that models is not the same as the person that design the design. And generally most designs tend to get tweaked a lot via a committee of the Art directors and senior artists before the designs are even approved to be produced in 3D.

Though I appreciate the compliment, but I do accept that I'm still very much an amateur in comparison with most people that work in the industry. And even if I don't think the character designs are the best (seriously Prometheans? yawn) but nonetheless the character models are still produced at a very high level.

Getting a real M.U.T.O /riddick swamp creature/pitch black vibe.

Although the pot belly is throwing me off a little and the glow spread from the eyes feels too generic for my tastes.

Thanks for the crit, pot belly was mostly how I interpreted the concept:


However, I will concede I took the belly a little bit more extreme than I should've which I might still be able to fix to some extent.

As far as the eyes, would the foggy orange fire eyes that I had up above in the earlier WIP shot work if I did it to this new shot? Or do you think it'd be better if I just toned down the bloom a bit?

I think having just blank white eyes would look better tbh, the skin color could also be more beige compared to the orangish yellow presented in your interpretation.

I tried the more paper-y color scheme and I just didn't feel like it looked very natural/ felt less like what I was going imagining for it.

Where pretty much just the yellow eyes are the only sources of illumination, with the light just playing off the shiny areas like teeth and gums in the darkness for another beauty shot.

I think the only real issue with the character right now is the texture. I'm noticing that the concept uses a lot of soft colors with smaller details around the creases. Maybe if you went for the more pinkish-brown color instead of the drab gold you've got going on right now, and added some of those details (subsurface might help?), it'll help convey the idea more.

Also the connection between the horns and the head seem very...welded. The concept seems to have it more rocklike but that's on your interpretation i'd assume.

Looks neat, it could be fun to see a variant of the map in the videos where there is more use of cover, so this map for more open battles and a variant with a lot of covenant crates and such things for tactical battles

I'm calling this guy done, mainly because if I don't I'm just gonna run out of steam on him hahaha. Anyways, here's the final showpiece of him eating a giant eel that resides in one of the many lakes of the caverns where he resides.

How useful would you say Megascans is for something like environment art in Unity? I definitely will be using it for terrain textures because those look amazing.

How are you going to film AI battles with a roof so low.....


With a scripted camera. And the roof is 18 units tall.

If you're using it for a portfolio piece and you're an environment artist, I'd say that's a no-no since you should make your own textures. However if you're just using it for a mod or whatever I'd say they'll get you there really quick.

I'm not really an environment artist, nor do I have any, we're mostly just designers (talking super secret project, not dreamweb for any of you lurkers). So I'd say they'd probably help me out a huge amount.
