Is there any way to LEGALLY download and install halo without the discs? I have the CD key, but I lost the discs.

Just download it off this site then. It'll prompt you for your CD Key at installation.

I'll try it. Okay. It worked. Cool.

If you have a legal CD key or have a legal copy of the game you can download the game iso from a website legally. Save with DVDs, if you own it you can download it.

Where does it say that? From what Kiwi understands, it's still illegal.

You would have to read the license agreement to be sure however most agreements allow you to make a backup of your software (ISO/CD copy etc...) they hardly ever allow for the distribution of the backup. Meaning the person posting the ISO is in violation of the licensing agreement.

If you have a damaged or lost CD but have the original Key and license you should call Microsoft to obtain a replacement CD. It is not technically allowed to download an ISO unless supplied from the manufacturer.

You don't need an ISO for custom edition, but you do for normal halo.

Well it's legal to download but not distribute right? So the person distributing the file/archive would get done although you would be fine, correct?

Anybody who downloads using torrents is usually seeding simultaneously.

Well that too. Still, they aren't really "distributing" it, more like "helping to distribute" it.

Usually, but people don't have too.

No. If it is a violation of the license agreement to distribute then those downloading are in violation as well. It is fruit from the poisonous tree.
