I ripped the aircraft carrier out of bf2 gulf of oman and this is the error list i get...
I aint spendin the time to fix this

Assuming you use 3ds max to export. Make sure it's editable poly, not mesh.

tyvm. i downloaded the toolio.exe, havnt tried it yet, and for future models il use the edible poly instead of edible mesch, although i dont really understand why it should matter.

Haha, completly agree there. The tool errors are a good thing! Whitout those you want be able to get your map working if anything is wrong whit it! Indeed those open edges are a bit noobis. However the update edge errors are sometimes just annoing...

regarding all the "noob" based posts, and the "search for this" based posts...

1. I did search for easy ways to fix 1000 edge errors (give or take), nothing came up.

2. The 1000 edge errors (give or take) is because I ripped the aircraft carrier out of bf2's gulf of oman. The errors are NOT because i'm a retarded modeler. i'm a lazy modeler who will take as many shortcuts as possible.

3. I am not going to waist my life away trying to fix 1000 edge errors by hand. If it comes down to that, i'm not going to use this particular aircraft carrier.

Wait a second, did you try this... attatch all objets that have an open edge to 1 object. Make sure it's an editeble mesh. Now select all the verticles of this object. Now under weld in the field next to select fill in 0,1 and (make sure the verticles are still selected) press select. If an error comes up this didn't fix a thing... If it doesn't you might just fixed the problem (atleast a part of it).

ow wait my bad... that's what to do whit open edge errors... sorry... I see that LordOfJericho
made the same mistake.


------------DON'T DO THAT ABOVE IT WON'T HELP HERE DO THIS:-------------------------------

The update edge errors are about having more than 2 faces sharing 1 edge. the solucion could be making material names include the %.

for excample:

the name of a material currently:
metal

make it:
metal%

this usually fixes it for everything whit that material apliet. However it could have serieus side effects...

well, i don't have time today to see if i can get this rip to work, so i'll try doing everything tonight or tomarrow. BTW i did do the vertex weld because, yeah, there is a good chance that there were going to be tons of open edges, and their were, probably a few thousand of them.... I'm starting to see that ripping stuff can take longer than making them from scratch... or that if i ever do get this carrier in, it will probably be all messed up because of these shortcuts.

Edge errors and Face errors aren't caused by edges not being together on one vertice; they are caused when a small, irregular triangle is attached to a larger, regular triangle.

It depends on the situation, but generally speaking, you use the weld tool to make the irregulars regular and the smaller triangles into bigger triangles. Basically, this allows tool to "digest" the map and have a better chance of compiling with proper collision and crap. However, there are times where this is not the case, as with mine and some of Bungie's structures, and remodeling may be called for.

If you just offered me that half a week ago! please see my Udate edge tropic I can use some help whit debugging there! NOTE: Only 2 warnings are left I solved all other problems.

I am going to do a live stream on error fixing tonight, i am guessing at around 9pm est.
I know there are error fixing tuts here but they are not very clear and do not explain things very well.
I will show where "open edge" and "could not update edge" errors occur, how to avoid them and how to fix them.

lol that's the stuff I try to explain all over the forum! take a look at my tropic update edge error and see what errors can do and how to solve!

P.S: plz handel those to warnings aswell i can't fix them :(
