and cmt graphics? but what would you add? a bridge thats connected like icefields using the tunnel system??

I think if I were to redesign it I would make it a bit asymmetrical by slightly enlarging it and adding more of a sort of kidney shape to the valley. I would slightly raise the center conture to disallow base-to-base sniping. Then I would change the bases making one embedded into the valley wall with a vulnerability to access from the top by Banshee attack and the other base similar to the existing but vulnerable to hog attack like the existing. I would also extend the model to show more of a sloping terrain above the valley I guess similar to what they did for the Reach remake.

Similar to the Reach remake, with accessible cliffs. Updated graphics, etc. And perhaps a bit more weapon variety.

And Shade turrets.

I would take the map, and twist the bases a bit, like Dennis said, to disallow base to base sniping. I'd also add a large amount of cover for the Blue Team's teleporter, similar to how Red base teleporter has the giant hill near it. I'd also make more variation in the terrain at both bases, similar to Coagulation from Halo 2.

I have the bsp in max.. since bungie gave away how they did it :P i just need to retexture and work on water

also when u guys say kidney do you mean like sidewinder? also i think im going to do the idea :D remember this takes place in b40 so cliffs gotta be tooken down and i gotta rebuild um using the b40 ones.

If I were to remake it, I would delete Blood Gulch and go into 3ds and make a completely new looking map with completely different models terrain, and weapons. Oh wait, did you say edit?

I would probably download every cool-sounding tag on Halomaps and uncreatively lay them all out in a crooked line in the middle of the map. Also, I'd keep getting missing tag errors, so I'd create a new thread for every error because it's too hard to use HEK+ myself, but forget to post the debug.txt entry each time. Finally, I'd name it doompigsepicbetabloodgulchfinalv3 and post it to Halomaps, but I'd upload it at least three times just to be sure Dennis sees it.

Why is this such a problem for people? I just don't get it. So what if people make hundreds or thousands of mods of bloodgulch why is that any different than somone making any other map you don't like? Why do you think everyone has to like what you like? News Flash! they don't. People mod the map into a form they like and it is not about you at all. As a matter of fact your likes and dislikes play no part in it what so ever. If you don't like bloodgulch mods don't download them. That is your option.

However, you are saying that no one should like bloodgulch mods. So that begs the question then: Who are you to decide what people like or dislike? Com'on really think abut it.

I just hate it when people make the remakes out of the same maps. Mind you its not a big deal, its just quite annoying when you see hundreds and thousands of blood gulch remakes when there are 15 other maps in the game you can mod.

I personally would like to see a good Infinity mod.

anywho . . .

- Larger Sky box
- Sky (overhead, not wrap or waterfalls) similar to revelations, but less dramatic
- Muddy water springs, trickling muddy water down random parts of ravine walls
- Cactus (maybe a human cactus/c10 fungal variation)
- Throw in some dessert trees other than the standard scenery tree
- Throw in a few prairie dog holes (maybe some animated alien version prairie dogs that dart from hole to hole, (you kill one, you get a healthpack))
- Ant hills - not large and pointy but noticeable
- Throw in some dessert trees other than the standard scenery tree
- Covenant wildebeast skull skeleton fur+scales
- Clumps of dense, but animated tall grass (slightly taller than crouch height)
- Animated tumble weeds rolling by in dry-hot dusty wind
- Termite mounds
- Make it look like a long time drought happened in what was a riverbed area

bsp structure: Don't make areas behind the bases walled in, make it actually look like a "Gulch" or very long ravine - somewhat like that ravine in Lion King where the wildebeast chased the lions - but not cartoony.

Bases - Make the bases natural-earthen dens, or craggy alcoves, with maybe structure support appearing to be a root system from a long gone tree, with multiple points of entry/exit - but not large enough for hogs to enter, similar to this photo, but without any moss/water nor darkness or fog (nor boardwalk) like this:

Hmm... been thinking... why not just make a variant of the one that you will add when you get Halo: Reach? (also i've been thinking whether or not should i keep the halo reach forum i made >.>)

What will i add/change/delete? (eh.. i'll might just make one at halo: reach forge >.>)

I will:

-make it look like halo: reach-ish...
-1 base embedded on a wall with a tunnel network connected to two landing pads (with banshees/vehicles) on the sides of the base, a vehicle bay on the bottom which are several feet above ground causing it inaccessible to those on the ground, and several exits...
- the other base is partially within the caves, it's hanger inside the cavern...same goes for the vehicle bays..
-mostly grassy, but visible patches of small dunes of sand
-more trees and several rocks...
- a river
-more hills and small cliffs
-small forts replacing the original caves, but that the forts can be seen protruding out of the wall...
-more.... when i get Reach....

Add Spawn Protection, a bubble shield around spawn points.

A 6 man warthog with no weaponry and homing plasma grenades (max of 4 to 8 grenades), same wacky homing plasma grenades as is found in Jackal Shield Gulch.

im actually doing my bloodgulch variation right now. i just couldn't change the bsp.



i know it looks a little too dark but it looks better ingame. and ima add night vision.

o that metal problem is because i have a setting that makes everything shiny no matter what. the setting is called "DisableAlphaRenderTargets." here's a pic with that setting turned off:



and it has cmt vehicles and weapons.
