Hey guys, first post here. I'm going to keep this short and sweet heh.

Inspired by the recently released Halo:Reach, I decided to go back and start having fun with the textures in Halo 1 for PC. This texmod will work with both Halo:PC and Halo Custom Edition (assuming the textures I changed aren't changed in custom maps)

For those that don't know Texmod is pretty fun tool to swap in new textures to almost any fairly current game. The only downside to Texmod is that you need it to start the game up every time and that if you have a lot of changed textures (which I plan on doing) it can sometimes stall the initial load of the game by a minute or two (once it gets in game everything is just as fast as if it wasn't modded though)

Some of the textures as seen in the Pillar of Autumn level are going to be a mix between Halo's original texture with custom texture work built on top of it. Other textures like the mountain side and ground etc are just custom textures I've made around photo's I've taken and painted over the years. I have a pretty big texture library to pull from, so its been fun so far. That exact texture for the mountain was fun to make, I think its something crazy like an 8k x 2k map to get the resolution I wanted, fun though.

The changed textures for the pillar of autumn does not look like any sort of metailic plating, but instead looks like rock.

Fix it.

Otherwise, the terrain and sky in the Halo level looks absolutely stunning. I'll be sure to play this when its complete.

i got to say I really love this as far as halo goes but as far as the POA goes, has anyone ever tried having PERFECT textures like halo reach, crew the scratch map, screw the dirt map. ppl like clean white as white can be environments.and i mean not even a dot of a different color.

Thanks guys, I think I'm on the fence as well on the Pillar of autumn wall textures. I think I'm going to give them look at and completely change it around to something a lot more metal (And cleaner) looking. As for the enb series working with 1.09 it definitely does as I'm running right now.


Also, just for a clarification on the use of this with Halo PC or Halo CE. This is the process.

1)Start up Texmod

2)Point Texmod to the exe file you want to piggyback on (halo pc or ce)

3)Select the Texture pack you want to use

4)Press the Run button in Texmod

5)Texmod itself launches the game.



Right now Texmod works with Halo PC and CE versions 1.09. I currently have it running along side a whole mess of other mods including 3rd person mod, fly cam and screen options mods. So there shouldn't be any interference with anything. The textures I will be replacing will also be replaced in custom CE maps if the original map file uses halo's original textures as Texmod just piggybacks on top of whichever exe file you chose to start up (halo pc or ce)


Thanks again guys, I'll try to keep this updated as much as possible because I want to see this finished

Beautiful textures.

Anyways...

I just got the best idea ever! Since these are very close to reach textures, you could pretty much do that for everything in the halo CE campaign. Like someone could get or make the Halo reach POA and try to re-make Cpt Keyes from Reach. In other words, it would be Halo CE with Reach graphics. Fan made.

This is all just an idea though. Doesn't need to be done.

The sky is unedited.

I like the cliffs a lot for the level Halo.
Also, the terrain in the distance actually looks like land now, not vomit splatter.
