I'm pondering starting up an animation "competition" of my own similar to what Teh Lag had over at Modacity sometime ago, but I need to know how many people would be willing/have time for just a bit of fun. Last I checked it seemed like we have quite a few animators lurking around.

Not sure on rewards or anything, mainly this is just for your own benefit and for me to give you guys some cool stuff I perhaps have lying around. Propose some other ideas if you wish but mainly I'm interested in the main question stated before:

"How many FP Animators are here and willing to have a bit of fun/get their hands on some "higher-quality" materials as well as learn some new tricks?"

I'm willing, I should have enough free time. Its been awhile since I've done fp though.

I think it would be fun.

In a way you're part of my main target audience: newer people still learning but wishing to get better. That doesn't discourage more advanced animators of course since they have much to learn as well.

All you'd need to do is just render out the animation from Max and show it here (what animation that will be though I have yet to decide upon...perhaps it could vary upon each weapon/'competition')

This contest intrigues me. Will you provide a rig for the animation, or do we need to use our own? If you do provide one, can we modify it?

How Lag had it is he gave you a weapon and a rig which I plan to do as well.

This allows you to make an origin of your own. In terms of modifying the actual geometry of the rig (or the gun), that's a no. I suppose you're free to re-rig either for your own benefit though.

Whichever one I feel like giving you guys, I'd have to go scavenge around my folders for something neat.

Remember that this contest didn't last long when lag ran it. Also, I don't think you'd be a terrific judge ODX. No offence, but you're very closed minded when it comes to stylization.

I don't hate covenant stuff; it's just something different from the norm, or "special" as ODX put it.

No, Hayabusa isn't a good animator at all. He just copies other people which is the easiest thing to do. He never takes critique, and his attitude is absolutely atrocious.

let's insult someone we hold a grudge against and publicly call him out in a thread where he has not even posted, halomaps.org style

if I recall odx, your form of "critique" involves telling people to commit violent acts upon themselves, and telling them they're just copying somebody else with no other input, despite the fact that many animators and artists use references when they are learning

Idk (nor do I really care), but I think we should get said "contest" started soon or it might never happen.

who's attacking? that's nothing more than criticism. people should learn to take it.
