I would only be happy if it comes with an editor and is NOT console exclusive.

What do you guys think?

Knowing MS, it will be console exclusive and the pistol won't be beast.

You are irritating, I'll release nothing

Sadly, I don't think so.

Let's just hope they allow and create Custom Edition. Everyone in the forums would probably recommend them to make Custom Edition. Maybe we could start a petition? (not a great idea but... yeah...)

starting a petition now would not be a good idea.

also, I hope they add more to the champagne. I mean, h1 is great and all, but the gameplay is kinda old. I dont think its stands up well against todays standards. I mean, there are some really repetitive areas...

The Library being a great example of that :p
Yeah, but if it doesn't come out for PC with complete editing support like Custom Edition, I don't really see the point.

Well, they didn't really learn that much, seeing as how Halo 3's Cortana level is boring as hell.

This shouldn't be a standalone game, should be an expansion of Reach.
Oh wait, it's a fkking console, so they're not awesome enough.

Would there be Armor Abilities and brutes, or will bungie stick to the original canon?

Wait- ooh flood on the reach engine.

I would like to see this come true and if it isn't console exclusive it would be a god send for us halo pc fans. A Custom version for it would be a miracle if it would even happen.

Here's what I think:

Halo Combat Evolved Remade by 343
--------
Rebuilt BSPs for Campaign
--------
New Encounters and new cut-scenes
--------
Heavy Graphics Re-do
--------
New Features?
--------
Will they base on custom content by us?

Gearbox has nothing to do with it. They only worked on hce. The pple to bug are 343 and microsoft. lol

To be honest, I don't really see why it must have modding tools. Most games I just play for fun, and I don't care if they have modding tools or not. Not everyone in this community will move over if there is complete modding tool support anyway.

If they return the physics to what they were in Halo 1 then I'm all for it. If they plan on making the physics like the other Halo, I want nothing to do with it.

Wait, what do you mean? Halo 1 has like no physics... Is that what you're looking for??

Releasing modding tools and a PC version is probably the best thing they can do. Talented people can create maps that the company can't or wouldn't, therefore increasing replayability, and then making more people want to buy the game for those maps.

It's a win win.

For a game that would have improvements every year? Unless every new release is an expansion, I see no purpose in learning the modding tools for a game that would become obsolete in a year.

Good point, but look at Bungie's games. Each one of them has had 2-3 years of time in between them. I'm pretty sure Gears was the same way (or maybe it was one year idk). Mapping pack would increase the life of the game, while the gaming company can dedicate their time on their next game.

Either way, I hope they do make mapping tools. I like being able to make what I want the way I want it to be.

The new games WON'T be Bungie's games, however. The article states that they're considering an annual release pattern for each subsequent game.

Annual release pattern would kill the originality of the Halo games.

A remake of Halo Combat Evolved would only be good if it retains the core gameplay, story, dialogue sounds, music, cutscenes, etc of the original. Otherwise, it's trash.

I'm sure this forum full of oblivious adolescents is a gleaming source of inspiration for professional video game developers who've gone to art and programming schools for years and have shipped multiple triple a titles

god knows I want to drop 60 bucks for the same damn ten year old game again

seems to me they're just trying to ride off of the success of the first game

M$ is just milking the Halo: Cash Cow again. Like usual. =/ It will be the usual console exclusive. Like every other Halo game. With the exceptions of Halo: CE and Halo 2.

just trying to make money i guess. halo 3 remake is what we need, not this reach/ODST s**t, people want to see what happens to the characters they liked at first, master chief, cortana, the arbiter etc.

HCE and H2V were pathetic excuses for PC ports. Neither of them brought anything new to the table, only brought sub-standard dedicated support, and a user-friendly and interesting kit of editing tools (with maybe the exception of hce).

Video Game Developer's target audience is those 'oblivious adolescents', and their source of income is their parents. Of course they are going to inspire and listen to them, despite what the developers may say.

It's all about money.
