I know this has been asked by people, so I completed it at last! Wait for more!

titulo: Ai Following Tutorial
Autor: Unknown, il ask Dennis later on what to put here.
Traduccion: Patxi

This is for the people that need this info as fast as possible!

Tutorial was initially a post by Me KS, TheFooler was someone who copied that post and uploaded it under his name. You should change the author to Me KS.

It's not something newbies usually try out, mainly because of the large potential for error. However, I will translate (cuz I'm nice like that)

1) Create an AI encounter, and set up firing positions in groups (how?)
a) Before I proceed, I'll explain what I mean by "groups". Each group is an area where the AI would fight in given the player's proximity. For instance, if you have a series of rooms, and you make each room have a separate group of firing positions, the AI would fight in each room. Let's say the player's in room 1. Thus, the AI would only use the firing positions within room 1. When the player moves to room 2, the AI will use the firing positions in room 2. If you don't understand this, that's not too much of a problem. Just put firing positions down in groups. How?
b) To put firing positions down in groups, in the properties pane, there will be a dropdown box to specify a certain letter. Each letter represents a certain group. If you place half the firing positions down with A (red), and half with B (blue), then they'll choose between groups whenever convenient. Remember to keep the A firing positions grouped together, and the B firing positions in a separate group.

2) Create one squad (only one). Specify the actor variant, the difficulty, etc. Check automatic migration.
3) Create a new squad. For this squad, do NOT specify the actor variant or difficulty. Instead, the only things you do are to check automatic migration and follow the directions below.
4) In the attacking, defending boxes, put in the letter of a firing position group (for example, A for firing position group A)
5) Repeat for all firing position groups.
6) Use the ai_follow_target_players command in a script.

That should be it.

Wat are you talking about ? Afther i released my tutorial on halomaps it was KS who copied every word in my tutorial and then posted it on the forums claiming he made a new ai following tutorial. He then said that someone else stealed his tutorial(??? i released it before he posted it lol). So The tutorial is actualy mine. I am Thefooler. It was the name of my previous forum acount. Afther that i discussed this alot of times with him. Then he finaly admitted that he stole my tutorial but without explaining why. So please change the author back to my name. Ks doesnt even know anything of ai following. He is an idiot.

Sorry for that I initially got it with your name, but they told me to change it.

PRPatxi, if you believe this guy, I will have lost all faith in the community and you. This guy was the guy who spammed Modacity under my name, the guy who spammed DarkZealot last year, and who DID take Me KS's post and upload it. Do you honestly believe that this guy has the intelligence to type such a sophisticated tutorial? Look at his spelling and formatting in his post.

Here's how you solve the problem once and forever. Put the authors name as unknown. That way there is no argument.
Also, good job on translating the tutorial. I'm sure some people will find this useful.

1) Compare Me KS' typing style to Joe55's (his last posts are here: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=userInfo&viewuserid=5592)

He and drillinstructor were the two I remember who kept the technical forums running, who answered the questions of the noobs as best as they could.

2) I never accused Joe55 / Crop55 of spamming Modacity under Darkzealot's name, but to think about it, he was the one who did that.

3) Check Joe55's last 20 posts (the ones before the ones he posted today). Does he look like a person who would create such an elaborate tutorial?

http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=30639

HERE. BEGONE TROLLS.

Found with the help of the amazing search feature :]

http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=24463&start=18

^Here's the whole conversation. Note crop55's completely unsuspicious claim that he made the tutorial and didn't steal it. Note how he's banned now.

http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=20779

Here's the OP posted on 9/01/08. The tutorial on Halomaps says 9/05/08.

Dennis, if it isn't too much to ask, could you resolve this once and for all and set the name on the AI following tutorial to that of the rightful creator? There's substantial evidence in the three links I posted above (particularly the third one, which contains the tutorial word for word) that Me KS is indeed the original creator of the tutorial.

He doesn't remove tags. There's enough evidence here to change the name of the author though.

1) Put both joe55 / crop55 / thefooler and Me KS into perspective. One's a troll who continuously derails topics from time to time (this one included), and the other was a respected member who was the most helpful member in the technical section that I remember.

2) Look at the links I posted. The tutorial is word for word what Me KS posted, and it was posted 5 days before the tutorial was uploaded to Halomaps. We've had this debate for over two years now. Have you noticed that joe55 never shows up except to troll others, while Me KS had posted for the benefit of the noobs?

3) Even if Me KS had "stolen" the tutorial before it was uploaded to Halomaps, why is the tutorial worded like a post directed towards another entity? Why does it match the context Me KS had posted in? Why is it word for word?

READ HIS POST:

http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=30639

Read joe55's post. It was edited on December 4th, 2010. I'm going to edit in a bit, with Google's cache of the post.

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:wG8tB0_XdfMJ:forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage%3Dtopic%26topicID%3D30639+http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage%3Dtopic%26topicID%3D30639&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Here was his initial post, and I quote:

im suprised with your comeback. showing you searching every corner for some proof only to claim it as your tutorial. crop55 was indeed one of my older profiles. i first named it thefooler55 and changed it a few months later. i remember the account was made somewhere in october 07. and yes it indeed disappeared.but you realy got to be kidding me. seriously what do you think to accomplish with this wierd acting ? you cannot come in and claim a tutorial (wich you DID NOT make) and claim it as your own.

Here's evidence that he went back to change his post.

Why are you so persistent?

1) I've proved that Me KS had posted the exact words on 9/01/08, BEFORE the tutorial was posted on 9/05/08
2) You haven't shown evidence that Me KS had admitted that he stole the tutorial
3) The posts in the topics I've posted have clearly indicated that this argument is a recurring argument, one in which you keep masquerading as the original author.
4) Your typing style still doesn't match up. Yes, I do have a problem with your typing style here.
5) Your childish and immature remark at the end indicates that you're attempting to incite anger, supporting my claim that you are a troll.
6) Me KS was obviously the one to have posted. In the second link I added, you can see both me and drillinstructor backing him up, whereas you have had no support whatsoever.

You're an idiot. I posted a link to the Google Cache, which was a snapshot of what the topic looked like on November 22nd, 2010. THIS IS BEFORE YOU EDITED THE POST

These are the facts:

I've posted evidence in favor for Me KS; you have not.
You've gone back and changed one of your posts; the original post is here:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:wG8tB0_XdfMJ:forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage%3Dtopic%26topicID%3D30639+http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage%3Dtopic%26topicID%3D30639&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
You aren't going to look for an old post because you cannot FIND an old post.

This bull IS going to end, because the facts remain: I am right, you are wrong.

PRPatxi, change the author's name to Me KS.

Hey everyone, joe55 admitted he is a robot.
Just a tip, you can claim all you want that he admitted he stole it from you, but you have no proof. Just the same as I can claim you admitted you are a robot, but without any proof, I have no argument.

Well as i said before i hate it when people try to claim gredit of something they didn't made and especialy if they havent got proof.Im just saying.

But you don't have any proof.
Saying Me KS admitted he stole the tutorial is not proof.
I can say I saw aliens land in my backyard but that's not proof and it doesn't make it true.
