Some things just don't work...

Right, I'm hoping to make a version of Reach (multiplayer, campaign AND ui) for Custom Edition. I have all the resources and 3 people that've volunteered to help, but I am a noob. I have all the software but 3ds MAX (the trial ran out), and I have no experience and very little knowledge how I'm going to pull this off. In other words, HELP! I have all weapons, vehicles, maps etc. ready for use, I just need help programming:

Biped Models
Weapons
MAPS
Cutscenes
Soundtrack (I got the tags)

Basically, I suck and need basically you people to help make my dream come true. I will try to do what I can.

that's one massive project your gonna try to pull off there man,as for the campain from reach into haloce...this game engine can't do it.there are maps being done that are based on reach,but to try to put halo reach as a game into custom edition (i wish it was possible).

How do you think that you could code an engine from scratch that has took professionals how many years?
And how many programmers does Bungie have, they have experience and had YEARS of learning which made the Reach engine.

You will not do it.

ally- great minds think alike...I think. Anyways, I know it would be near impossible to pull this off on the CE engine. I've actually been asked to create a new engine, but how the hell do I do that?! Anyway, this game will be a graphics downgrade of Reach, but hopefully with some awesome new weapons and even more maps.

There's already:

Zealot (H2 Midship)
Reflection (H2 Ivory Tower)
Powerhouse CE
Hemmorrhage (Bloodgulch)
Swordbase (I've got the 3d model (non-textured) anyway...)
Boneyard (We have it on H2V why not CE)
Pinnacle (H2 Ascension)
Asylum (Yet again, I have the 3D model, but in colour (still no real textures)
Griffball court (It's just a box, blus we have Grifball arena on H2V)
Spire (just make a massive gravity lift in the sand)

And just to put the icing on the cake, we can use this in campaign too! Good old Bungie with their not so original Multiplayer Maps!

I am using the Custom Edition engine (no need for intensive programming), it will be downgraded graphics to fit the engine. I have all the resources ready, I just need programmers (why I made this thread). I always say, it's a lot quicker to copy than build from scratch. Especially when you have all the bricks and just need cement.

I have all of the above! I just need them programmed, for example, I have some ready made e.g. the DMR, but some like the Needle rifle, Plasma launcher and Grenade launcher still need programming- they are just 3d models.

Same with bipeds- I have the models, but they need replaced visors and conversion to bipeds, not just models.

Maps - Ok, I have most, but yet again they need programming.

Yes I do need cutscene help

I got the soundtrack tags off this site

Happy? No contradictions, just bad phrasing on my part :-D By ready for use I meant ready to program not play, otherwise what would be the purpose of this thread?

You can't modify this engine's code... don't you think that someone like Kornman would of dont this otherwise.

I'm not modifying the engine in any way, simply replacing all of the maps with homemade Reach ones...

Your not getting me... there is no programming involved to make a map. So why say programming?

not trying to be depressing, but i would spend a few months learning the engine before undertaking this. plus many things in halo reach are not possible. like, reach graphics, a jetpack that works EXACTLY like it does in reach, without just throwing damage effects anywhere. hopefully people get what im saying. like. the last guy who came and was like, LOLZ IM GONNA MAKE THE h3 CAMPAIGN DEWDZ, IM A COMPLETE NOOB!" only knew how to use HMT and HHT. it was embarassing for him.
not saying your like this, but thats just my opinion.

there is no programming involved in halo CE. plus, no offense, i highly doubt you have ALL weapon, vehicle, and map models...

I understand that CE maps revolve around tags. I am talking about outside that, very basic programming- BIPED MODELS, PROJECTILES, ANIMATIONS AND MAP BUILDING. I have spent a while getting to grips mainly with 3d modelling. Thanks for your insults. What I'm saying is, I need help on making these lifeless models work, and ANIMATING cutscenes. You lot understand yet?

Yes, I know how tags work. I use to spend my free hours mucking around with Halo 2's tags.

By "Programming" he means Tagging.
I'd like to see just updated versions of current maps with balanced reach weapons.

uhhh, that's not programming. programming involves using a language to develop computer applications and programs

How are we supposed to understand what you are talking about when you use key words such as "programming" which means writing CODE. Everyone on this forum will automatically think you want to code a game engine if you say you need help with programming.

Don't start crying be I "insulted" you when what I said is true, you can't know what you are talking about when you think that RIGGING character models, TAGGING projectiles, ANIMATING everything and MODELLING BSP is all programming...

Be more clear next time to make a post and use the correct terminology so that people don't think that your a complete idiot. We are not a forum full of physics.

I'm a newbie, and may have misused the word, but still explained clearly that I was NOT creating a new engine, just new maps.

I do believe you're definitely insulting me. Kinda sad...

I can see that you were disillusioned in your previous posts.

OK now that that weird misunderstanding has been all sorted out and there is no need to re-hash it we can all move on.

Let me summarize: He is looking for assistance in creating Reach maps in Halo CE and all that implies. If you can and want then do, if not then watch.

Thanks for that Dennis. To be honest, I only just set up an account today because I'd like to take on this massive project to turn Custom Edition into a remake of Reach. Should be fun, I've always wanted to be a member of halomaps, but had no motivation 'til recently. Don't worry people, I've done my research...I think...but not enough to fully understand the 20 different programs I have installed for this.

Someone really should start counting how many people come here in hopes of things like this. You do know that we've had the resources of Halo 2 for YEARS? Yet a single player conversion was never done, it was attempted by ZTEAM. We have also access to H3 resources same thing.

As a matter of fact, i know many people within Halo CE that can program in various languages (C++, C# and Visual Basic) myself included

idea: Sgt. Forge and/or Jerome-092 or Alice-130 or Douglas-042 is/are PC(s) for human campaign, arbiter Ripa 'Moramee and/or Brute army commander for covenant campaign.
