As the title says, this is a WIP thread of the Zelda Wind Waker map: Outset Island. I've made the skybox + sandy ground texture underneath the water. Now time texture the others. May need some help with something soon. Here's a lil pic:

Here is an update of all the textures put into the model:


Now since I'm a newbie at mapping and learned only few about it, I'm wondering how do I put in a plane floor as seen in this screenshot with the red circle inside the forest, so once you go there, you won't fall down the map and get stuck.

If you can still edit the bsp, I believe there's a button in both 3ds max and gmax for adding planes. If you can't edit the bsp, then just make a new structure that's slightly bigger than that hole. Then people can just walk on top of the structure. Not sure if this'll work as I've not gotten to learning how to use the HEK yet, but from other people's posts, and maps I've downloaded, I can make a guess it'll work.

Looks great! I wonder how the gameplay would work out, as in where would each team spawn, what weapons would be available, etc.

Make sure your model is set to a poly for this tip.

Select the object with the open areas you want to fill in, press the "4" key, and you go down to the object called "create" in the list of tools or whatever it's called...

Then left click one by one the VERTS one by one that you want to be connected with a plane... double click the last vert you want connected by the plane, or click the vert you started with... someone needs to put pictures with this. I'm too lazy.

As many as they want. No one has to check with you or anyone else before deciding to make a map. It's not all about you.

to close that gap up is simple. what i would do... open editable poly, select the border tool, select the open gap, then click cap. that's how i do it, and some people may not agree with this method, but wonders work. :D

all in all, that's a pretty good BSP. i like it. oh, and add some transparency to the water if there's land under it. all in all, that would make it perfecto, in my book at least.

Got it to open in Sapien at last:

Here is a little fixed update:


Both islands were added, Outset Island + Windfall Island in one map.


But I have a little error with the bitmap image of trees on top of the Outset Island forest:

Map looks sexy. Good job! I can't wait to see how the gameplay works out. Sucks that the top is still FUBAR, though.

looks cool, I hope you make it so there are ladders inside the buildings so u climb up into the roofs of those buildings from the inside for sniper positions

Well I had this for a while and I just got back. I havent been on pc lately (SORRY XBL!!)

I have 1 question, How'd you put together all the wood? All the wooded decks and stuff are open and intersect each other? I have everything done in the map except for the wooden decks and stuff. Do yours have collision or did u fix them yourself?

I'm still not sure what's going on with this project at the moment. Maniac and Hellt are still around, but I'm not seeing noobkiller online whenever I'm on. Anyways this is a quick question, is it possible to make the biped display in 3rd person view when let's say picking up a sword and shield, because I know it is hard to animate sword and shield in 1st person view, but I still have Jahrain's tags where Link can do amazing sword attacks such as spin attack with sword seen in 3rd person as it doesn't show in first person.

By the way I'm not sure if Dennis uploaded the updated version of the Zelda Spirit Temple map where it doesn't show the rcon and password in game, but I have the updated version of that where it doesn't show that.
