Dunno if any of you guys get the halo maps newsletter containing new uploads, but I saw that there is a Recorded Animations recorder now:

Anyone tried it yet?

Wow Good work Higuy we solved a huge problem for members of halo maps Now we can make full animations for vehicles far less complicated to find models of vehicles

so this means I could make dropship animations with relative ease without having to use a 3d modelling program? if so then BEAST!

I've had some of the recorded animations internals documented now for over eight months...http://code.google.com/p/open-sauce/source/browse/OpenSauce/Halo1/Halo1_CE/Game/Scripting.hpp

I'll just stick to music as mapping is not for me.

Note: Recorded animations do not accurate play in sapien for w/e reason if it was gearbox messing around with who knows
Compile a map and play the animation ingame for best results

the point was that there is now an easy to use application to do this. Even if it is a bit buggy, it's definitely getting somewhere. And I think we all knew how they worked, and how valuable they'd be to CE for general use...

Could you possible whip up something like this app for us then? Or maybe include it in the next OS?

I dont understand how this works.

Is it that you put the recorded animation in sapien, then compile, and the map automatically updates w/o CE needing to be rebooted?

I saw the steps, but they never said what it does.

1. Put the dll in your Halo CE folder. Make sure the old one is named to strings.old.dll
2. Start Halo CE.
3. The first time you start Halo CE with the new dll, the first key you press will be your recording key. Press the key you want to be used for recording.
4. Load up any map.
5. Press record key.
6. Do stuff.
7. Press record key to stop recording.
8. Close Halo CE. Launch the program.
9. Open up any scenario with it.
10. Click add, name it, then click inject.
11. Locate the txt file it made.
12. Save scenario.
13. ???
14 Profit!

Idgi. What exactly is this?

Well, people have been trying to unlock this feature for a long time, and it lets you play around ingame, record what you did, and then play it back. IE a pelican flying, warthog driving, marine running, etc.

Now that I think about it, recorded animations are like that feature for Halo 3. You know...that feature.

With that said, here is a more appropriate name that most newcomers will recognize: Theater mode
-Zekilk
