Multiplayer Beta!!!! oh snap

Beta Test #1 - Geomar

When would you all like to beta (it will indeed be public)? I'm looking for somewhere around next week, preferably Saturday. Need a date and time...

And if anyone has a server I can borrow for it, preferably withstanding 16 players, hit me up.

~~

This public beta, is one of the first to come I hope. Geomar is one of our most in-game MP maps at the moment, considering the fact I received it from Conscars a while ago pretty much complete BSP wise. I'm helping him pretty it up and get it running good.

They already did that with EP1, where a Zealot with a shield was the final boss. He wasn't as crazy as Gamma made him in Subterfuge, but he was still semi-challenging.

Hello Lumoria fans! We have an exciting new update for you today, including gameplay, animations, and models...!

If you didnt see it Friday night on CE3, Lumoria EP2's "Blitzkrieg" encounter was shown. Check it out now!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7slkG4Qfps

However, the video is missing a few things unfortunately that weren't there...
For one, we have brand new fuel rod animations, thanks to Jackal Stomper.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkepT0SOy-I

Secondly, we have new ODST's, similar to the original ones, but of higher quality! What do you think of them?

We have also decided to release all of our original encounter designs and sketches from Lumoria Episode One. You can download them here:

http://www.gamefront.com/files/20525336/tmc_a_encounter_designs.rar

We would also like to welcome back Advancebo, if you don't know who he was, he does alot of tagging and has been in the community for a couple years. He left, but hes back now...
Also, speaking of members, if any of you people can get in contact with "Massacre" (or Mass, for short) please do so. We need to contact him badly, and I'm relying on him to finish some things...

Last on this update, were presenting Geomar! Geomar is multiplayer map original by Conscars, and has been revamped by TM. Enjoy! (Hey Con, want to work on that sky now? :P)

Thats all for now folks... keep it real until next time.

Not to be rude, but I think the Halo 1 Fuel Rod animations are better and should just have been used in the first place. If you wanted them revamped a little I could easily have done that for you.

.

It's not hard all I have to do is just import the animations, keep the ones you guys want and then remake whatever you want and change my interpolation so it matches Halo 1's style better.

Those ODST's I did were like the first ever I had to do to fit h1's standards. Just kept it simple. I'll get to anything you people have problems about it.

looks awesome guys, i like the new fuel rod animations and the maps look wicked. how do we get a hold of the MP map file?
this has probably already been discussed, but y are u continuing with classic weapons? i'd like to see the carbine and BR in there, maybe a spiker.
i thought the "lz's hot, im bringing her down' sounded a little forced and unnatural.
but in all it looks amazing, that structure looks sweet! well done

edit: the wraith kept firing in the wrong direction. im more than happy to do voices for u if u still need someone.

why, out of all the tracks you could've chosen for this encounter, did you choose to use the same track as abeyant revelations? It makes that encounter feel kinda boring, like I've played it before.

skip to 1:29 (ends at 4:11)

I also don't think that song is fitting, though I understand that the encounter might feel similar to abeyant rev due to the soundtrack.

The reality is that there isn't an unlimited supply of Halo tracks available. So in some parts things will have to be reused.

yes but considering there are five games worth of music, I'd imagine that you would be able to do 2 levels without reusing a music track.

Problem?

We all decided to change it. H2 ODST's lacked some detail compared to standard h1 marines.

What do you mean by this. I have had the idea of changing the odsts since last year. We never took off on the idea until this summer. Originally we were going to have brandon and all other ODST's be the character models from Halo3:ODST not Halo 3. It was a last minute change.

Basically he is flustered because he wanted to do some animating in a certain style and Roosterteeth beat him to it. He was going to switch to H3 ODST's but you did it first (I think?)

Don't even ask.

IMO those Fuel Rod animations don't look like they fit with the rest of the weapons from Halo 1 at all, same goes for the ODST's.

I just like to be unique, so seeing people use the same thing I chose bothers me on that level, it's not anything against any of you; like I said I'm not accusing you of anything. The irony is that when I originally chose to begin using the H3 ODSTs, I looked at Lumoria and specifically chose H3's because Lumoria used H2's, and I thought I should make an effort to be more unique xD (and also I'm not asking you to change it, just commenting).

^Yes that flustered me a bit, but I got over it; there are infinite ways to be unique with animation.

No I've been using the H3 ODSTs since some time in 2010 :P

That's not half-bad honestly. Probably too inconsistent with other tracks though. Think I'll favorite this either way, thanks!

@Delicon: choosing correct music for a certain piece is more complex than just looking at the scale of a battle. Most of bungie's tracks were actually designed around certain encounter types, which becomes apparent when looking closely.

For example, the use of perilous journey in b40, we used it in a similar encounter setup (abeyant rev, mainly the ramp sloping up queuing the alt loop of the music).
Another example is the music used on the gondola in halo 2.

Choosing music needs to fit the atmosphere, events, and scale also is a factor though it is usually correlated with atmosphere/events.

yes but using music that some wouldn't suspect would "fit in the atmosphere" in a creative way that suits the encounter would blow people's minds much more than thinking inside the box

arab music doesn't have to be played in the desert (no racism intended)

How about the first part of this. The gameplay reminded me of the covernant so I thought of this.

I wached the video with the track running and it seemed to fit.

for some reason "Dear pig of doom" had me lol'ing for about 5min, saying it in different accents, anyway, carry on

on a more serious note, the very moment i saw the beginning of the clip showing lumoria e2's gameplay i immediately thought of the beginning of the original predator movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACpamPcfEH4&feature=related
i reckon a few seconds of little richie's 'long tall sally' at the beginning where theyre in the back of the pelican would b SO awesome and then have the tunes fade out as u walk away from the pelican or as the pelican flies out.
