You people are ridiculous. Be glad it's just $40 in the first place and not a full priced game. I think it's perfectly priced for all they had to do:
-Remake the entire campaign and every asset in 2011 graphics (TIME CONSUMING, EXPENSIVE)
-Code the engine and make sure you can go back to Halo 1 graphics
-Make 7 multiplayer maps

Sure I only listed 3 things, but it's 3 obvious things that easily make it noticeable how much work they had to put into this.

Exactly. It isn't a new game so it isn't priced to be a full game! The logic!

And in terms of us doing that here "daily," I've yet to see anyone remake the entire campaign at a professional level. Oh, and the coding too like I mentioned above.

One thing I don't understand... why?
I mean, if you wanted Halo 1 graphics you can just buy the old version. I know it's a feature and all, but I feel as if it would just get in the way.

Yeah, the old version has xbox live and co-op campaign over live.
And I don't see how it'll get in the way, if you move your thumb an inch to press the back button.

Oh... Forgot about that.

Well your thumb could have random spasms or something and accidentally press that button. Then 15 minutes later you drop the controller and it pushes that button again. I dunno.

Still doesn't get in the way, if your thumb is being stupid and presses a button on its own, or your stupid and drop the controller.

That button could still be pressed even if it didn't change the graphics.

Maybe if we had the source code for the engine, some one with coding/programing experience could eventually update the graphics at least somewhat.

well I personally can't stand classic halo's graphics (or the assault rifle firing sound for that matter) which is why I'm buying this, it'll make halo 1 a much more enjoyable experience for me.

Yeah, the graphics update looks awesome and all, but I think I'd prefer to play a totally new version of the campaign(CMT) rather than a retextured, and remodelled version of the original campaign. I've not even finished the original campaign on Halo 1 because it's boring. No graphics update's gonna make it any more fun.

ODST was new, had a firefight mode (without Matchmaking tho :P) and came with all the Halo 3 maps ever made. Also had campaign and achievments. THAT is worth 60 dollars.

A fancy retexture and code addon is NOT worth 60.

That's Australian dollars. 40 US dollars is about 60 AU dollars.

Why do you even post things, it just makes you sound stupid... By the way, they completely remade those maps using the same concept as the originals, they arent just graphical overlays, they use the Reach engine...

No, they clearly aren't/weren't.

They DID "remake" the entire campaign, it's just they already had a palette but they still had to recreate everything. Again, time consuming and expensive.

And the MP maps weren't already made. Again, they had to do the same thing I just stated above. Get over it, you know you're going to buy the game anyway.

And $40 REALLY isn't that much money.

It may not but do know it all adds up in the end. And do realize people do pay for other things in life that all adds up.

But yeah $40 is still better then paying for $60.

They really have their hands tide with that simply because some old-school hardhead would start screaming how it's not exactly like the original. Either way, the biggest dilemma this Remake is having is that "Switchback" feature. It really limits what the designers can do to improve it.

The switchback was never added as a feature, they used it for debugging but liked it so much they made it a feature. The inclusion of it isn''t effecting what they were going to do.

I respectfully disagree. They can only improve graphics with the Switchback, but can't improve animations or physics or implement other features such as boarding and (worse) one-hit-kill-vehicle-ramming. I would prefer a remake that was aesthetically and technically improved that retained t he gameplay value of the first game at its core over a remake that ignores all technical issues and only goes for aesthetic changes.

That's a separate thing, they're probably to afraid to change anything, and 343 doesn't have a track record for making smart decisions. I would like a more enhanced h1 experience, but blaming what they're doing because a switchback switch isn't correct. Switchback is there because of what they decided to do with the remake from the start, not a feature that they want so badly they're going to hold the rest of their ideas back.

The reason why I'm saying the Switchback prevents further improvements is because the only new engine being put into the Remake is a Graphical Engine. It's easy to pull a bitmap/shader/blah swap with two different engines; but you can't switch gears during a boarding or when a character has entirely different animations. I'm positive that would cause an Exception.
