They were willing to pay $60 for Halo 3 weren't they?

Halo 3 is basically it's own game (even though H2 was better IMO).

I would not pay more than 20$ for this new CE because even though as ODX said, they re-did everything including the game engine, they still only EDITED the game and haven't created new levels, encounters, weapon concepts or any of those things. It's still a mod and I doubt any mod should be worth more than the game. As far as I am concerned, this is still Halo 1, not a new game.

EDIT: I'm not hating, I actually think this will be cool but lets be real, this is a re-make.

well I personally can't stand classic halo's graphics (or the assault rifle firing sound for that matter) which is why I'm buying this, it'll make halo 1 a much more enjoyable experience for me.

yeah, that's right, I'm a graphics freak.

I still think they should have just remade the game entirely.

This. Using the old engine just seems lazy. They keep saying it's to preserve the gameplay people remember, but you can get that in...oh, the original game.

40 bucks way to much money for a mod. thats all this is. a Mod. its not a new game at all. Its what we do here in the CE community daily.

You people are ridiculous. Be glad it's just $40 in the first place and not a full priced game. I think it's perfectly priced for all they had to do:
-Remake the entire campaign and every asset in 2011 graphics (TIME CONSUMING, EXPENSIVE)
-Code the engine and make sure you can go back to Halo 1 graphics
-Make 7 multiplayer maps

Sure I only listed 3 things, but it's 3 obvious things that easily make it noticeable how much work they had to put into this.

Exactly. It isn't a new game so it isn't priced to be a full game! The logic!

And in terms of us doing that here "daily," I've yet to see anyone remake the entire campaign at a professional level. Oh, and the coding too like I mentioned above.

One thing I don't understand... why?
I mean, if you wanted Halo 1 graphics you can just buy the old version. I know it's a feature and all, but I feel as if it would just get in the way.

Yeah, the old version has xbox live and co-op campaign over live.
And I don't see how it'll get in the way, if you move your thumb an inch to press the back button.

Well your thumb could have random spasms or something and accidentally press that button. Then 15 minutes later you drop the controller and it pushes that button again. I dunno.

Still doesn't get in the way, if your thumb is being stupid and presses a button on its own, or your stupid and drop the controller.

That button could still be pressed even if it didn't change the graphics.

Maybe if we had the source code for the engine, some one with coding/programing experience could eventually update the graphics at least somewhat.

Yeah, the graphics update looks awesome and all, but I think I'd prefer to play a totally new version of the campaign(CMT) rather than a retextured, and remodelled version of the original campaign. I've not even finished the original campaign on Halo 1 because it's boring. No graphics update's gonna make it any more fun.

ODST was new, had a firefight mode (without Matchmaking tho :P) and came with all the Halo 3 maps ever made. Also had campaign and achievments. THAT is worth 60 dollars.

A fancy retexture and code addon is NOT worth 60.

That's Australian dollars. 40 US dollars is about 60 AU dollars.

Why do you even post things, it just makes you sound stupid... By the way, they completely remade those maps using the same concept as the originals, they arent just graphical overlays, they use the Reach engine...

No, they clearly aren't/weren't.

They DID "remake" the entire campaign, it's just they already had a palette but they still had to recreate everything. Again, time consuming and expensive.

And the MP maps weren't already made. Again, they had to do the same thing I just stated above. Get over it, you know you're going to buy the game anyway.

And $40 REALLY isn't that much money.

It may not but do know it all adds up in the end. And do realize people do pay for other things in life that all adds up.

But yeah $40 is still better then paying for $60.
