perhaps instead of extending, how about changing?

BSPs? It's harder to edit the original BSPs than it is to add on new ones, ultimately the player never will notice the difference, it's new areas to play and explore either way.

Don't think you can edit stock BSPs.

Yeah you can, there's a utility that converts halo bsps to different formats that you can import into max. It's a pain in the ass because of the errors but it's definitely possible.

Well, that was one of the things I didn't really like about SPV2. The new areas are great, but you should only add so much to a single level. I had to give up on A30 SPV2 because of the sheer amount of time it took to complete. Could you try keeping levels to a length similar to those of the default campaign?

I can guarantee you we do not want to test 5 hour long maps ;). Level extensions will be much more inline with the rest of the game.

Players will be able to know the difference 0.o
I'm talking new ground maps, new panel uvws, more detail... perhaps if you just want custom bsps, make a custom campaign.

I hope this time instead of having random hud messages appear on the new bsp's you use actual dialog, custom, perhaps?

Looks nice, But the HUD looks to blocky, like a hud from an old SNES or 64 game. kinda reminded me of the megaman hud lol.

But hey keep up the good work and maybe you can finish this SP.

For those interested in Post Processing with open sauce Kirby has a thread now on our forums detailing what he's done with it, that join Iffy's in detailing his progress and discoveries.

^This.
Like maybe with the people who play with Open Sauce could have FP legs, and people that don't have Open Sauce don't.

Aren't FP legs possible without OS anyway?

As of now no, but we have a system in place, it's just a matter of whether or not it's worth it trying to perfect it.

Forgive the noobishness of my "OMGOSH ADD DIS" post, but I couldn't help myself.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrojet

"The Gyrojet is a.... unique firearm.... developed in the 1960s named for the method of gyroscopically stabilizing its projectiles. Firing small rockets rather than inert bullets, they had little recoil and didn't require a heavy barrel to resist the pressure of the combustion gases. Velocity on leaving the tube was very low, but increased to around 1,250 feet per second (380 m/s) at 30 feet (9.1 m). The result was a very lightweight weapon with excellent ballistics." - Wikipedia

If you're creating new weapons, perhaps this would be an interesting concept to consider for an addition to the UNSC arsenal. Not necessarily this particular model, but the general concept of a handheld weapon firing self-propelled ammunition would be rather unique.

If I could get open sauce to work i'd probably try to get fp legs working, but the os_hek hates me.

Our fp legs system has nothing to do with Open Sauce, it's just an attached biped with scripts. If we can find a way to program our own new script commands it's possible it could work much better.

Assassinations while probably possible won't be happening as we can't afford the tagspace for assassinations for all our bipeds.

Just out of curiousity, this may be a dumb question, and it's a possibility I could be flamed for it, but are you recruiting at all? I could model weapons.

This stuff all looks legit. I am kind of worried about the use of OS. It's something few people have tried and would be unwilling to try. I'm not even sure my PC would be able to handle it, unless of course it has no graphical changes, but I do see that you guys have bumps on dynamic objects so...

you can always turn off OS options in game, and if you don't have OS activated all the maps will still play fine.

Part 5: The Sauce
While we are building the mod with OS in mind, if for whatever reason you cannot/will not/donít want to install or donít like OS, the maps will still play normally for you. Though we do not plan to make Open Sauce a requirement we do expect to be taking advantage of a number of features it affords to users, while maintaining backwards-compatibility for those unable to run it (though at the expense of a few cool new features!) Players who use Open Sauce with our maps will be able to experience normal maps on objects (such as in Halo 2, 3 and Halo Reach), VISR mode, altered gravity, vehicle boarding, and possibly other fun features as well.

The use of Open Sauce is actually one of the things I'm looking forward to the most. I'm not sure why people are so afraid of it.
I'm still having trouble believing that this thread is real. This is probably the most ideal team you could have for CE. I'll admit that I had trouble concentrating on reading the original post the first time through because I was so overcome with excitement.

Well, in the next release of Open Sauce Kornman said there was going to be an installing program with it. Which is going to save all the people who are new to Open Sauce a lot of stress.

I'm not sure why people are so afraid of it.

Mostly fear of the unknown, or people just being ignorant and only considering how the project was in the past (sans an installer, which is a painful thing for end users who just want to play) instead of keeping up with how far we've come. With CMT, we're able to actually get competent people to not only test our systems before a major release, but to also show average users some of the things that OS makes possible (remember, CMT is only using some of the parts of OS which don't break the map's ability to be ran in a non-OS game, this is only the tip of the iceberg).

Remember to hide porn through your beta maps so dennis has to take them off the website if they get leaked!
