The use of Open Sauce is actually one of the things I'm looking forward to the most. I'm not sure why people are so afraid of it. I'm still having trouble believing that this thread is real. This is probably the most ideal team you could have for CE. I'll admit that I had trouble concentrating on reading the original post the first time through because I was so overcome with excitement.

Well, in the next release of Open Sauce Kornman said there was going to be an installing program with it. Which is going to save all the people who are new to Open Sauce a lot of stress.

Mostly fear of the unknown, or people just being ignorant and only considering how the project was in the past (sans an installer, which is a painful thing for end users who just want to play) instead of keeping up with how far we've come. With CMT, we're able to actually get competent people to not only test our systems before a major release, but to also show average users some of the things that OS makes possible (remember, CMT is only using some of the parts of OS which don't break the map's ability to be ran in a non-OS game, this is only the tip of the iceberg). Actually what's nice about OS is that our maps can't be leaked. We compile now for testing in a special format where it requires the most recent build of OS to play, or the game doesn't detect the maps. Of course when it comes time to release we will remove the backward compatibility restrictions but I could post a map right now and none of you would be able to play it.

Animation update thread is up, sorry it took so long: http://www.halomods.com/ips/index.php?/topic/311-odx-and-the-weapons-56k-warning/I had to sort through some problems with .gifs and such and even now I'm not sure on using them even though they are very convenient. Try to use Firefox as it tends to work best through their browser. And as the link clearly shows there is a 56k warning so be prepared for waiting as they all load. Each is just 320x240 so it shouldn't be that bad.

For anyone who's curious, in order to install the version of OS I was handed for testing, all I had to do was open the installer, click "Next" a few times, and I was good to go. The only problem was an issue with incorrect HEK installation (since OS draws some stuff out of HEK folders), but that won't matter for anyone not using the HEK in the first place. It really is that easy to set up, and the payoff is far worth the negligible effort. A main one would probably be the addition of OS, but other things include: weapons, HUD work, encounter planning, particles, etc etc. The list goes on.
