So in my absence has anyone successfully done a good job with engineers?

That map had some Engineers that seemed to work fine. It's unprotected.

They provided over shields and everything?

They don't provide an overshield, but they float around and detonate when killed.

I don't know anything about scripting, but maybe you could set it up that way. When the Engineer is alive, all Covenant units in that particular encounter (maybe in a trigger volume?) get a shield boost. When the Engineer dies, the trigger volume goes away and they lose their shield.

It doesn't work that way, but thanks anyway. This isn't even about SPV3 really, just me wondering if anyones done something similar to what bungie did.

Get the engineer, Give it some kind of gun.

Make an effect, give it a damage level of 75, and a radius of 20-40 or somewhere around there.
Make the firing effect of the gun this effect
Make the multipliers on the damage effect -1 to the Elite shield and 0 for everything else.
Make new bipeds that all have shields that have the same effect as an Elite's, but have a really low shield health.

Gun shoots slowly, once every 10 or 20 seconds.

If it works, the shields on the units will be increased by 75 "health" every so often, i'm not sure if it'll work like the overshield and dissipate after a while, or eventually make them invincible though....

Yup, 6 years and counting.
Not sure if it requires rosetta, but nil would know.
www.macgamingmods.com most mac halo related stuff, Generally modding the demo goes on here. We have a user base of..... roughly 20 people who are active.
This is pretty much where most mac modding tools have arose, Eschaton, Pearl, QAR, And many more.

Also upgrading to lion apparently breaks halo, but this is unsure.

I have not modded Halo CE in a while so correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think your idea Olly will work as intended.

IIRC the health you set in an actor_variant is not a limit, its just how much HP they have. That means the gun can heal OVER the amount you set in the actor_variant

If several AI (or one) was kept alone with that engineer for a while (perhaps the player did not have enough ammo or too many enemies around), they would be practically invincible, but being able to kill them in one hit with a melee in the back would fix that.

Like I said I have not modded Halo CE in a while so I don't know what I said is true or not. I'm just thinking that might be what would happen.

Edit: One way you can fix it is instead of having the gun with "unlimited" ammo (9999) it would have a much less number (lets say 15 shots)

That way, if it ran out of ammo it couldn't heal anyone anymore and would be useless.

Another idea would be having the engineer in a script checking to see if a teammate (or enemy if AI can't fire at friendlies) is low on HP, then have the engineer "shoot" that teammate (enemy) until it reaches the amount in the AI's actor_variant, and if it does reach it, it moves on to someone else.

The idea is that it does no negative damage to anything but the shields, now i don't really know, but when the cyborg shield is over charged with extra shielding from something like this, it slowly degenerates until you have your basic shield left.
I don't know if this is the same with AI.

Your idea of only giving it x amount of shots would work.

BRAINWAVE: When the engineer sees you, it will fire its weapon if it's off your team correct?
Make the weapon never stop firing, so when it shoots once, it never turns off. That way they will only be boosted when the engineer is aware of your presence.
