ive never seen jackals using both hands to hold any weapon ever in all my time of custom edition besides waffles

Maybe you just haven't looked hard enough, but seeing people have made elites use two hands...I'm sure people have been able to have jackals hold weapons with two hands as well.

it was a halo 1 jackal, and i never said it hadnt been done before. most of everything im doing on this thread is to help me learn, or to better myself. im trying to expand my knowledge from just shaders, and textures... hence the attempts at rigging, and animating.
and i dont know any good places to host animated gif files. it either doesnt show up for anybody but me, or it gets removed... if anybody knows a good site, lemme know

i havent got anything release worthy yet btw, but ill try to get some stuff uploaded soon. i have some pretty small stuff as well, but probably not worth showing... ive been experimenting with viewer facing on some shaders and effects, working on existing shaders(which i see no point in doing till i get open sauce, at least for now.)

also "trying" to get open sauce installed... im kinda tired of faking shaders in halo ce. i wanna see the other features in sauce as well. but for the most part i just want open sauce for luls :P

on another note. what do you guys use to export animations? i have max 11, and the animation importer from the ghost, yet i dont believe you can export brand new animations from that can you?

thanks, apparently though i cant get the full version script to work in max. i can get the compact exporter to work, just not the full one.

im getting a runtime error upon running the script.

this stuff is heavy WIP... open to criticism.

for higuy, and team.

working on re-proportioning the body, and the rig got a little messed up near the arms and chest. had to split some verts up near the butt, because the stock male marines have flat a**'s

also took some armor peices off, this can be added back however if you want (higuy). i just thought it differentiated and made her stand out a bit more from the males. i used the h3 head that you wanted, yet i think i may do another version with rawleys head from the halo 1 pilot biped... seems to detailed against the other marines.









^the arms have changed a little since this picture.

also learned how to use Aether lightmapping tool.





didnt light everything in terms of scenery, i just wanted to see if i could make it work. also the shadows arent super high res... i just made them to a max of 512x512. still looks alot better than stock lightmaps.

Really nice job on woman's proportions !
Change the bitmap color of the hands tho, less contrast and more according to the face skin look.
Still really nice while i'm more for a rounder butt

Use higher res on aether, you can do it easily

thanks, im still working on the hips and butt area, i just noticed the hands lol, ill also try to get rid of the veins.

as for the aether stuff, it was just a test. so i didnt bother to go high res with it just yet.

Does Aether use the collision geometry or the .gbxmodel to draw shadows if you know? If the latter that would be immensely interesting.

from what ive read and can tell from making the lightmaps. aether uses the maps default lightmap uvw's as a base for baking the high quality lightmaps.

each scenery item or gbxmodel can recieve and cast shadows, through its geometry. upon playing with lighting settings you can get a trees leaf transparency to mask the shadows. same with anythings transparency bitmaps. (alpha channel of diffuse).

its really really easy to do.

that basically walks you through the entire process. read through the first time and it worked perfectly.

if you have troubles with getting the aether companion script to work, you have to run it through the scripts (hammer) tab. then select one of the two commands below it.

if you have anybody that is willing to fix the rig up that would be lovely... as for right now i dont have a whole lot of patience to fix the rig...



the arms and pelvis/hips area need to be fixed... the model id say is pretty much done in terms of proportions. i also need to get some permutations up.

also tried out rawleys face from the pilot biped... looks pretty good actually. just dont take her helmet off... or her secret will be out for all to see.... shes an elf lady!
