thanks to spartan 094 for releasing the h3 odst biped so i didnt have to waste time rigging :D.
shaderers are mine though, and look super sexy without fakebumps. this is by accident since im not supposed to post opensauce shtuffs.

marine flamer animations(wip)



need to fix the wrist/hands. but i like it so far, right now its just an idle animation and i set up the stock marine animations to support it. (ie, weapon id, stand/crouch slot)

marine rocket launcher animations(also wip)



moved the rocket away from the face and got rid of the back tubes clipping the shoulder, also fixed the left arm.

the left wriste/hand looks like that because of the ik linking the two markers, i could try not using the ik and just place the hand in the right position through animation... but idk yet if i care.

I agree, about time

could you try to enable heavy weapons for marines in hogs so they're not just holding nothing when they get in?

this is going for a release once i get every animation done that i want done, including vehicles and the mp flag/ball.

im going about this as to the animations can work with any weapons, meaning not just the h3 ones in the pictures but stock weapons and any h2/h3 weapons, preserving nodes and markers in all weapons and the biped(s). that is however that the weapon in questions markers or nodes arent horribly screwed up as to look otherwise.

Any chance of re-skinning the ODST so it looks like that guy from RvB? That was one badass ODST... Plus with the flamethrower.

beautifulz waffle, i am amazed they look this good without fake bumps,

the sand look a bit too bright not that it has to do with anything i notice there wasn't any shadowing

though i know this was probably done intentionally, obviously a guy like you can fix things up however to your like

maybe. if i get good references, could be good for texturing practise... dunno, lemme focus on the animations first.

stock deathisland lightmaps. plus the fact the its a detail map on the stock deathisland ground base, the base was meant to have a darker detail map. i cant be bothered to change the ground base right now. crit the actual focus of the picture please.

 How to make Sharkface:
Step one, get H3:ODST biped
Step two, use micky's shoulders for both forearms
Step three, get carter shoulders
Step four, get jorges chest
Step five, get ????? backpack
Step six, give visor teeth
Step seven, get h3 mark vi detail stripe and put it on both right/left leg
Step eight, make everything red
Step nine, modify h3 flamethrower
?????

i really like the name sharkface. i believe i have all of that stuff besides micky's shoulders, and that backpack.

The backpack, while obviously flamer tanks, looks a lot like the Reach Jetpakc. Use that, modify it?

oh btw would there be anyway to use functions to specify between 2 shader_meters to use and hide the other?

such as say i have 2 seperate shaders for the pp meter. one that scales with regular fire. and one that only appears when charged. having both ontop of each other only mutes the colors in the meters. is there a way to hide one while the other is active? and vise versa? hide the charged meter while not charging. and hide the regular fire while charging? or is there a simpler way of doing this entirely that i missed?

halo 3's cubemap/environment mapping system is nice in that i dont really need a specific cubemap for shaders, just one that looks decent.



idk why i keep porting this stuff. if not for just fun, then people raging on the side quietly about ripping.

does anybody wanna request any tutorials? ive been thinking of making a few just cuz.

A shader tutorial would be nice. Shadering is one of those things that is supposedly complex, yet easy to work, but has so many little components for adjustments that I think it would be beneficial for a tutorial to be created.

lol hydrogen. there already is a tutorial for aether on the modacity wiki page, thats the same one i followed to do lightmaps. its incredibly simple. but i guess i could like make a video of what i did doing lightmaps.

and shaders are really easy to do, if you can understand what maps do what. ex: diffuse, multi, etc. ill make an updated tutorial on the shader model, seeing as thats the one people will use most often. ive learned quite a bit of stuff since the last time i made the shader tutorial.

@Waffles :D I think for the floods's amor, make a shader more darker with the plasma rifle cubemap or the warthog reflection diffuse metal. Look on my elites :) :

and i used all the ripped bitmaps dark soldier. the floodelite color change is supposed to be like that. as for the cubemap. its really up to preference. halo 3 uses different cubemaps for different levels

ill get some references to compare later.
