There are other ways to make a game realistic besides making everything look dull and musky.Realism is not that important,unless you're making a WW2 shooter or something like that.

well the grime in halo reach was proportional, the edges of armor was smoothed out, and it was meant to give the appearance of use and age,

the reason this didn't work in halo 2 was because the grime was in stark contrast with the perfectly straight lines that made the structures just seem painted. (highpoly=grit, low poly= paint)

Halo 2 had the best environments because of that in my opinion. ...Sacred Icon, Quarantine Zone, High Charity, The Great Journey, all appeared great in my opinion.

Yeah those levels still stick to me the most of the game. The Flood were just so incredibly terrifying in Halo 2 for me. I think that the Arbiter and Oracle levels had the best Forerunner/Flood environments throughout the series actually. Those levels really used that gassy haze and fog to bring out the best in those environments, not to mention the audio was spot on.

waffles, your excellency, were your marine anims and the ODST rigged to marine bones released???


E : one more, is the Odst johnson biped also in marine bones?

i like marine anims more than the spartan's, i can sprint and dive/evade, problems are the nade throw,(and if there are) ES and FT anims.

It's clearly not Halo 3 and is 3ds Max.

Although...it looks brush-stroked, almost like concept art.

Yeah, a bit too much ambient occlusion? Spark looks a bit glossier than he should, personally.
Love the model, though!

That might work in some places, though. Personally, I wished he was more like that in c10 (Halo 1's "343 Guilty Spark" level).

I sharpened the specular map (or what i assumed to be the specmap), and used a CE cubemap for rendering, also was trying out some bloom settings in 3ds max. I dont have the detail map on it yet though, which is why it probably doesnt look just right.

Makes sense -though, now looking at it again, I think the dark gray background for the picture just made those problems look worse than they actually are.

Details might be the real culprit, yeah, but I feel like it could just be the specmap.
Either way, let's see how you can fix this~

I recommend rather than sharpening it, go into the sliders in "levels" and adjust the middle one and possibly the outer ones ever so slightly. Sharpening, I have found, gets rid of too much of the specular detail. Really all you want to do is not sharpen but rather make the high and low contrast more with each other.

I gave what i had to someone to animate, however its been quite a bit and i probably could take a chance and animate it myself. But for now It'll have to wait.


i like rendering halo moar than porting lols.

lol, you really dont want the data for that thing, trust me. its a mess, while posing the fingers, i screwed up the default model (nothing notice-able in-game) and was too frustrated to fix it. but if all you need is the original models and textures, i can just upload them and post a link.

Im kinda tiring of porting lately, been doing nothing of much lately besides watching anime and reading manga(very little lol).

If i could get sounds from h3 id be porting more... probably. lol
