Hello community, i've had 2 questions on my mind.

1) Is it possible to play Co-op on Halo Custom Edition? I'd love to share the work this community brings with my friends and family who love halo.
2) Is it possible to make maps for Xbox, or burn a CD so it works for xbox?

Now these qustions might have been asked, and answers and/or tutorials would be appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time, and thank you for your time / or sorry for wasting it. :P

1: Definitely not. Netcoding problems that no one can fix no matter how many million lines of script are written. You would just have to make a completely new game to do this basically.

2 I thought so but I thought it was only for original xbox and I wouldn't think it would work over the net there either. Not 100% sure though.

I'll only answer your questions if you tell me how you can thank people AHEAD of time. o.O TIME TRAVELLER

jk

It's not possible to play Co-op on Halo Custom Edition but it is possible to play Singleplayer on Halo Custom Edition which is more fun than Co-Op because then nobody can steal your kills or ask you fake questions they already know the answer to :P

Sadly the closest thing to co-op we have is inviting your friend over and he shoulder-surfs you telling you what to do next.

1) It would be set as a multiplayer map. You'd have to script a lot of stuff in. It would be best to only have all the same type of enemy. Best to not have any homing weapons. Best to force players to stay in an area until the enemies are dead, etc. If your interested, ill explain to you over xfire as you need it, but idk if anyone other than me would go through that much :effort: (which is strange considering how lazy I am..) Just be aware that your graphics quality degrades alot to display things to clients that they wouldn't normally see (so it ends up about gameplay, not graphics)

2) There is tools to convert HCE maps into H1X, but you need a modded xbox. You'd have to ask on a xbox forum about that.

Doubt it. The PC was made for a single player/user, so even if you had more than one screen at your disposal, I still doubt that Halo (or any other game) would let you run split-screen.

Well, you could play co-op in Custom Edition in a certain way. Maps like Area 5X series offer co-op play that acts like a campaign mode but it's not a real campaign map. Main problem would be syncing the AI and what-not for all players; the host will always be the advantageous one.

Not true, it could resemble the Co-op from Portal 2 and only revolve around solving puzzles, which I don't have any problems with

AFAIK you can't, once we learned controllers could be fully supported in CE we explored it, but it's just not a realistic thing to add.

Ah well. I'm guessing coop on the same PC would be pretty lame anyways. I think this topic is pretty much resolved then...?

Sadly you can play co-op online.. BUT Italy has discovered a way but blocked anyone from using it. They made it a online that supports only up to 2 players. It is only blocked because it is in BETA testing.

That is proof. I have the BETA level but it is missing a lot of strings and is a tad laggy.

This problem definitely can't be solved by using scripts, but I disagree when you say you'd have to write a whole new game, I think it could be solved if someone with good reverse engineering skills would try it up.

It'd require to reverse and understand the coop code from the xbox version and try to integrate it into Custom Edition without breaking everything.

Or maybe we could beg gearbox to release a patch for it, but I doubt they would even consider this,...

I have to agree that the lack of coop in Custom Edition makes me mad sometimes, when I see cool stuffs like Lumoria, Sector 09 or SPv3, thinking it can't be played with other people seems very unfair,...
