Hey guys,

Just wondering, if I download a custom weapon or 'asset', how do I go about making it appear in a map of my choosing (for example, I want to be able to use the awesome reach sniper rifle in a map like bloodgulch)?

Also, is it possible without using an editor and what exactly are the steps?

Thanks,

Cam

I believe you are thinking in the wrong terms for halo modding. In order to do what you want you need to make a map up to the point where you have a scenario file or you have to use hek+ to open up someone else's map. I suggest making your own. Once you have the scenario file open it with sapien (yes it is an editor) and place your weapon/asset in the map where you want it. Then save and compile the map. You will need tutorials to do this; I would suggest using either the hek tutorial or maybe this video tutorial:

I don't know about hek+ tutorials, I don't use it.

Is it a MODEL?If it is,you're gonna have to learn how to do rigging and animating.I have no knowledge about that.

If it's a TAG,then it should be easy.Getting a existing scenario file is much better than making your own, considering that you may not know how to create a map from scratch(I don't know how xD).
There are many different ways to do what you want.Tutorials are what you should be looking for. There're some good ones on Youtube.

One more thing:there is no way to add anything to a existing map file without using a editor of some sort.

Erm,no.Unless the community have already fixed the missing tag problem, then you're gonna need to do much much more.

Right click on HEK plus or the shortcut you use to open it and select properties > compatibility tab and check "disable Visual Themes" and "Disable Desktop Composition"

It worked, but now AVG 2012 has removed hekplus.exe and its releate components because they pose as a threat. It's probably a fp, but it could have happened because I looked for updates in the menu and it saw that it was trying to get internet access... Still, I'm not sure.

It is a false positive and most internet security programs will flag ANY outbound requests as they should. The program from here is the latest version and is not a threat.
