I personally love the way the pelican and the biped turned out.

The camo looks pretty good on everything except the Longsword and the armor, methinks.

For the biped, maybe you should emphasize it as a digital camo scheme. Maybe decrease the shine, as well, considering gloss isn't something you want when you're trying to blend in. A silver visor would better match the surroundings.

But, these are mere suggestions. None of it's bad, by any means.

Thanks, Tiel. What was I doing wrong?
If editing UVWs involves modelling, I'm pretty much out of luck. I have no modelling skill and am restricted to gmax, but if somebody volunteered to do it for me, then things obviously would be different.

That's not a good angle for the longsword in that picture, it looks much better from the side/above/below. Also, the camo I used for the biped is a digital design. Should I make the camo shapes on it smaller? Oh, and BTW Echo, my xfire's giving me problems which is why I haven't been on in like, forever.

Fair enough. I could tell it was digital in some places, but the shine seemed to make it less defined in other areas. I think the shapes are fine as they are, but toning down the shiny might be a good tweak.

You dont have to make your own cubemap, it will just make it look better (as far as I am concerned)

And honestly when you told me about your camo, I didnt seem very convinced, but now that I see those pictures, it actually looks pretty good. keep up the good work.

I was going to say, "We don't need yet another RPG_Beta6 rehash."

But maybe this will be one of the first maps that will make people Actually RP again, Will all of the new stuff.

I was thinking of making the fabric of the biped have camo and have the metal be flat white, and reverse it for weapons and vehicles. Good idea? Not?
Another question: anyone have any ideas on how to improve my camo blending?

I see why normal blending didn't go over well. The camo detail overlapped the armor detail. Now, it only adds to it. Genius!

I have questions. Im not really an RPer, i used the RPG maps to mess around with friends on. Is this one just as good for that as 6.2 and 6 were?

RPG 6.2 BSP + non-stock tags + edited bitmaps/swapped cubemaps + different aesthetic feel + minor tag editing = my map. As far RPing and messing around is concerned, the map is almost the same, because goofing off doesn't need custom tags and RPers can use imagination. What I'm doing is a visual and technical improvement.

Update! New sniper rifle camo:


Waffles, I took your advice and made the nonmetal parts uncamouflaged. I also darkened the coloration a bit. I think it looks much better.

I decided to once again redo stuff. It turns out that my dad recently bought CorelDraw X5, so he let me use that, and I must say that the results are much better than they ever could have been before. So far I've overhauled the two warthogs and removed the camouflage from the biped's metal:




If these hogs aren't good, I don't know what is.

That involves something with UVs, which involves something with modelling, which is beyond my league, especially since I'm limited to gmax, which can't open OBJ files. That was one heck of a runon.

It wouldn't fix the stretching, which I think is the main cause of the low resolution
