OK, well I have all the files from the Halo Reach game disc, and here they are in directory structure:

(Root) $SystemUpdate (Directory) (2 Files, 0 Sub-Directories)
(Sub-File) su20076000_00000000 (Update) (File) 7,796 KB
(Sub-File) system.manifest (Unknown) (File) 3 KB

(Root) AvatarAssetPack (Add-On) (File) 14,112 KB
(Root) AvatarAwards (Add-On) (File) 588 KB

(Root) bink (Directory)
(Sub-File) credits_60.bik (Credits Movie) (File) 75,889 KB
(Sub-File) intro_60.bik (Start-Up Movie) (File) 48,640 KB

(Root) default.xex (Game Engine) (File) 12,176 KB

(Root) maps (Directory) (32 Files, 3 Sub-Directories)
(Sub-File) 20_sword_slayer.map (Multiplayer Map) 121,056 KB
(Sub-File) 30_settlement.map (Multiplayer Map) 146,004 KB
(Sub-File) 35_island.map (Multiplayer Map) 136,808 KB
(Sub-File) 45_aftership.map (Multiplayer Map) 75,440 KB
(Sub-File) 45_launch_station.map (Multilplayer Map) 137,032 KB
...
(Sub-File) shared.map (Unknown Map) 391,556 KB
... (Directories) ...

(Root) nxeart (File) 1,332 KB

(Root) waves (Directory) (2 Files, 0 Sub-Directories)
(Sub-File) L360.dll (Dynamic Link Library) 360 KB
(Sub-File) Q10.dll (Dynamic Link Library) 328 KB

(Root) wavesLibDLL.dll (Dynamic Link Library) 740 KB
(Root) wavesShell-Xbox.dll (Dynamic Link Library) 548 KB

And now, what I ask is, if I have all these files and people have the XBOX's motherboard's files, shouldn't we be able to emulate the hardware?

But back to what I originally wanted. Since I have the maps, I can get the tags. But the problem is, I haven't had any luck at all with finding any tools to open Halo Reach maps.

Help?

Yes but people have already released tags but I can't find them. I'm here to release a tag pack to the community. All I need is the tools to extract the files.

Making it community shared does not change ethics.

I strongly don't recommend using those leaks. I'm pretty sure we're having a release soon. Like M6G animations, MA37, new DMR animations, etc.

The only reason I ask is so I can get my hands on the tools and take the contents from the maps and make a tag pack for the community. Possibly organized into groups such as sound tag packs or model tag packs. One thing I'm really interested in getting my hands on are the bitmaps.

Bitmaps are extractable. It's the only thing you're able to extract from the game.

For some weird reasons, programmers haven't been releasing Halo Reach editing softwares. I remember back on the original Halomods time these softwares were by the tons, like HMT and new plugins can all the time to either edit or extract the data. When Halo 2 came, lots of softwares followed even including BSP viewers and such. For Halo 3, nada. We barely had a crappy model extractor many years after. Same for reach. The only tools I'm aware of concern modded xbox.

This is because Reach employs an encrypted tag protection system. Even though we can define and display the tag tree structure, we cannot get the names and pertinent sections of each tag to display correctly. If or even when someone figures out the encryption...I think modding it and extracting resources will follow the same doomed path Halo 3 did.

I only have one thing to say: DaniloC

DaniloC can do this, he's done H3 Maps, vehicles bipeds etc. from exracting them from the maps themselves, and I know for a fact he can do it for Reach maps.

If you want to ask him, his xfire is daniloxx90

And thats all I have to say.

an Xbox 360 is currently impossible to emulate well. because of the fact that emulators are extremely sloppy, and that you would need a NASA computer to play it. for example, my computer which can max out battlefield 3, skyrim, and mass effect 3 with no frame-rate loss, can only get a piddly 25 frames per second emulating zelda wind waker for the GameCube.

but you can at least get the textures from those maps, if you decide to do that please rip as many textures as you can for the weapons, vehicles, environment etc. i have had a hell of a time trying to get some of those for my models.

i believe there is a ripping program called ascension that is around but i believe that ajudiant works as well.

The Xbox modding softwares allow them to view tag trees and edit them. Then again, emulating does alot in this but I won't accept for a second nobody's done it. It's more of the interwebs being more selfish, less sharing nowadays than it use back then.
