For those who don't know me this is a map i made a while back http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm?page=topic&topicID=40122 well guys, this is a new map im doing, i don't have a lot of progress yet, as i'm kinda busy, but the concept is gonna be pretty much what you can see right now, a valley sorrounded by cliff walls and a big hole/lake (haven't decided yet, and if i make it a lake i will add a waterfall) in the middle, the environment is gonna be either forest, snowy, jungle or forest/snowy, but that's not it!, in the middle of the hole/lake there's going to be an structure (obviously connected through bridges to the terrain), haven't make the model but it's basic shape will be hexagonal, and it's going to be connected to the structures that are going to be the bases, the terrain in front of the bases are going to have different formations to make it more interesting to the player. So what do you think i will post more pics as soon as i have more progress... Here are the pics: Edited by ChBgt909 on Jun 26, 2012 at 05:05 PM

The ground definitely needs more vertical variance. It seems like it's just a flat plane right now.
Also that map looks huuuuge.

Also that map looks huuuuge. i know, thats why i said "this is all the progress i have right now" lol i used the "line" tool to make the shape of the map, it's pretty obvious that i had to add the polygons and make an irregular terrain, thing that i already did. I'll post more screenshots in a min... Note: This isn't the actual uvw mapping the map is going to have, i'm gonna try to use the same method of "Installation 04/Imposing" (my previous map) obviously need more details and i still have to make the rest of the hole and top of map where i will add more cliffs and trees and... the structures of course xD and, about the size, i wanted the map to have that size because i want to add a lot of vehicles, maybe even 1 or 2 pelicans... if it doesnt work out i will just make it smaller Edited by ChBgt909 on May 1, 2012 at 10:09 PMEdited by ChBgt909 on Jun 26, 2012 at 05:06 PM

If you do have a tunnel system, it would be cool to have a jump in there, over a large chasm

The main cliffs need alot more detail, right know there just kinda smooth and flowing. Real cliffs do nothing like this, they are hard and edgy. However the bottom minor one looks nice, but also the terrain seems a tad to large and a also a bit boring for that size as well.

Quote: --- Original message by: Private CabooseIt's really cool :D If you want, I could model you some tunnels. E: I noticed that you were just taking screenshots in max, so I'll help you out a bit. There is a technique that allows you to put a wireframe over your renders. Pretty much, what you do is clone the object, then make a new material. In the "shader basic properties" box tick "wire" and apply any colour you want as the diffuse. Apply to the clone, and as a result, you'll have this. http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff508/Hiralis/Lol.jpgEdited by Private Caboose on May 4, 2012 at 08:53 PM thanks man :) don't worry about the tunnels, i'm still thinking about whether or not to put them and well, the tunnels need to fit to the map so it'd be difficult to do both things separated and thx for the info about the wireframes in render window, right now i'm using the sniping tool to take the pics, i have the link in my taskbar so i just have to use "windows key + 1" to open it, pretty fast actually, but that info will be very helpful thank you :D NOTE: i will post more updates until sunday, i don't think i will have the time to do any progress today and tomorrow, also, i won't be able to reply any other post today but feel free to add your opinions, suggestions, etc... cya!!! :DEdited by ChBgt909 on May 4, 2012 at 09:45 PM

one thing i'd like to ask, are you going to keep the arid concept that you are using right now? because you said you were going to make it like a forest with snow or a jungle, IMO i'd be better that way because you can add more things to the map like trees and maybe even animals like someone said in a previous post

NOTE: One more thing, i want to use the GAIGHER's and Maniac1000's texture pack in this, however, i want them to tell me whether i can use them or not, (i'd be awesome if i can) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now... i made some changes to the structure: I want to point out that the parts in the circle are going to be covered with glass and metal grids so that area will be walkable... just saying lol Edited by ChBgt909 on May 5, 2012 at 11:55 PMEdited by ChBgt909 on May 6, 2012 at 12:04 AM
