I extracted the cov_hex_pattern_dark and tried to apply it to a Spartan's visor as a detail map, but when I did the visor turned black with a tiny gold hex pattern on it. How can I do it properly? And if there are any OS methods i can do feel free to state those.

Did you try changing the blending options?

There is a dropdown menu of how the bitmap blends, try playing with those.

You are going to want to make these changes in the detail and cube maps.

I know it should be a detail map cuz that's how reach uses it. I just can't figure out how to get the damn thing to work right.

Try changing the tiling options for the detail maps, the u/v stuff.

And no, that's wrong. If you replace the cubemap with your hex pattern, you'll see no reflection going on other than lines that appear as hex patterns. That's not what he wants.

you're welcome :)
also, using a hex pattern as a cubemap is a bad idea.

well I figured he would edit it and change the color or what not. I didn't mean for him to use it the way it is.

just something I cooked up real quick I'm sure I could make it look ok somehow.

might be interesting,

It wouldn't work because when you turn the biped on the screen the cubemap shifts. He wants a hexagon pattern over the visor, not a hexagon reflection

Thank you, Jackrabbit! Though yes, a cubemap wasn't quite what I was looking for, I'm sure I can still find a way to use it!

yeah, the black in the extracted detail map is the alpha. so if I fill it with gray it'll work?
