Adjutant V3.2.0.0 RELEASE

Adjutant is the all-in-one asset extraction tool for Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach and Halo 4, provided by Gravemind and constantly under development.

Adjutant supports:
- Halo 3/ODST/Reach and limited Halo 4 model extraction
- Halo 3/ODST/Reach and limited Halo 4 texture extraction
- Halo 3/ODST/Reach sound file extraction

Adjutant does NOT support (nor am I aware of plans to support):
- BSP extraction for any game
- Halo 4 sound extraction
- Animations for bipeds

TROUBLESHOOTING

"Adjutant isn't working for me! I get an error and it won't extract XYZ asset!"

Adjutant is a work-in-progress. Some assets simply won't extract currently, due to the data not being properly called. Try the following steps before submitting an issue report:

- Check/reinstall .Net Framework 4.0 (required for use)
- Check that Adjutant is fully up-to-date
- Check you have the relevant campaign, shared and mainmenu .map files in the same folder as the map you're trying to extract from
- Check you have a copy of ToWav for sound extraction

"I exported the rig, it's broken!"

Waffles has an explanation:

Quote: Theres a temporary process (till Gravemind fixes it) to get weighting and bones back to "normal", might put something together to explain it better. But basically, you can fix all the bones with 3ds max's "bone tools" and the pivot editor. From what i gathered, the pivots are inversed and flipped on two axis'; x is off by 90 and z is off by 180 degrees (must do this process without weighted mesh). During the process of fixing the bones, you'll probably notice that they are horribly stretched and skewed--bone tools has an option to "reset stretch" which will re-scale every bone back to a value of 1.0.

*sigh* and if you really have the time to note what's actually being weighted in the skin modifier you can save the weights in each modifier and reload them to the correct nodes. Prolly post an example or something of a "fixed" model.

"Where are my diffuse maps?"

Waffles, again, with an explanation:

Quote: --- Original message by: Waffles
There are two types of control bitmaps, type 1 is for materials with an RGB/ARGB diffuse map. Type 2 is for materials without a separate diffuse map, the diffuse maps are grey scale and stored in channel data.

control type 1 bitmaps
R=specular
G=specular-exponent
B=reflection

control type 2 bitmaps
R=specular/reflection
G=diffuse
B=specular-exponent
A=dual colour-change (black is secondary, white is primary)

Any bitmaps with the suffix multi, are control type 1. Examples of type 1 are usually weapon control maps/props/scenery. Examples of type 2 are all MP character models.

Also, illumination data is stored in the diffuse alpha channel where it applies. (Use common sense to tell what is transparency and what is illumination).

Diffuse maps
RGB=diffuse colour
A=illumination source

Otherwise h4 relies heavily on materials and default bitmaps for all other illumination (MP Spartans). They use geometry for shape, and a white texture that can be colour-changed.

Halo 4 isn't limited by pre-set bitmap configurations, the new material system allows for more flexibility in choosing what bitmap channel is what source (colour change/illumination/transparency)

Wait, wait... hang on a sec. So... first you complain that these tools don't get released, and advocate incomplete, piecemeal releases just so you can have the tools there and then...

...and then you complain that the tools are incomplete.

Makes perfect sense.

I...I don't recall ever complaining that this didn't get release. My tagset is complete and I don't need any Halo 4 things.... unless they're dialog sounds

H4 sound extraction not being present isn't a bug, it's an intentional oversight. Be patient, maybe it'll turn up - otherwise, I'd suggest keeping the Internet Superstar stuff to yourself.

I'm not sure. I get this issue with a few H:R items, I'll add it to the first post if you give me some examples of what you're having issues with.

all bitmaps.

You're going to have to be more specific. Are we talking about Halo 3/ODST/Reach/4 bitmaps? I'm not having a bitmaps issue as of yet, but some models from Reach seem to have the issue you described.

Ensure you have the right .NET framework installed, and do a clean install of Adjutant.

Could you upload the 3.2.0.0 exe of adjudant? Apparently during the update it crashed and the exe itself got destroyed. Plus, the old 3.0.0.1 version won't even start up properly (so I can't update from there either).

My goodness, how long have you been on the internet? I didn't think my post would upset you that much. I was just expressing my disappointment how this program doesn't come with sound extraction for Halo 4. I'm glad Halo 4 models/bitmaps/ect can be extracted so people can finally start getting them ingame. Great. Really though, don't take me seriously

Check your settings - I just bath-extracted all of ca_redoubt's bitmap files without issue. I'm extracting as DDS format, you may have BIN selected or something.

You're sure you're extracting from the bitmap folder?

I didn't get what Gravemind meant by Halo 4 "sound sound" extraction.

Now, it all makes sense.

I don't really care for H4 assets but at least people won't complain about Gravemind not releasing Halo 4 plugins.

Who cares about Halo 4 sounds anyway? The gun sounds are terrible, and there isn't any good dialogue for any of the characters anyway.

Yay, another attempted Halo 4 argument. Lasky had alot of good dialogue, so did every one of the marines and chief had a few good ones, too. Please, stop trying to find reasons to hate on Halo 4 without being well informed on the game. You probably picked it up, loved it, saw that there was a bandwagon for hating on Halo 4 and then you jumped on it seconds later. You're as bad as an atheist that gets his cues for religious arguments from Bill Maher or Seth MacFarlane. I liked the weapon sounds for one. If i were to look at all the downsides to Halo 4, I'd list the sound design as a plus. It was much more raw this time around. The assault rifle in Halo 1 sounded like a semi-automatic Anti-air gun. The assault rifle in Halo 4 sounded like, well.. An actual assault rifle. The plasma pistol (one of the best Halo 4 sounds imo) had much more substance than in the previous games and the other weapons were good, too. The sniper-rifle sounded rather punkish, though and the pistol sounded alot like the H2 version.

-A lot of words about H4 sounds-

I don't like how the Promethean weapons were so "human". They functioned about the same as regular human weapons, except they use different ammunition and they look different.

The Light Rifle is basically a DMR with a special firing mode.
The Suppressor is about the same as a SMG.
The Bolt Shot is like a combination of the Mauler,Magnum and Plasma Pistol.

That still doesn't quite explain why their weaponry is soooooo similar to ours.

Prometheans have hands.. Prometheans have fingers.. So... They'd probably still need a finger-operated weapon.
Prometheans are advanced humans technologically and intellectually, not physically, per se.. If every Promethean weapon was a railgun, there'd be no variety.

I picked up Halo 4 expecting a halo game, not a random class based shooter. There isn't a bandwagon, the numbers speak for themselves.

The halo weapons in all the games sounded similiar to each other, if not almost the same. Halo 4 changed everything for the sake of change, and all the guns sound atrocious. The BR sounds like someone trying to start a lawnmower, and the gravity hammer sounds extremely weak and like a laser pistol toy.

the plasma pistol sound is perfect in terms of that punch of launching that single powerful plasma bolt, hearing both the launch and the trigger pull. while it lacks the plasma feel of previous iterations, the sound is certainly reminiscent of actual pistols and not just this little generic "pew"

the assault rifle sounds are punchy and a lot more effective than reach's tacky sound and halo3's thud. halo 1 still has a rocking AR sound though.

the carbine has a nice new sound while staying close enough to the original for that instant recognition.

most of the promethean weapons sound the same, but they have a neat flanger/fluid-like sound to them that distinguishes them from the already massive halo sound sample library.

the dialogue is very well voiced and timed, unlike halo 2's emotionless miranda and hood and halo 3's lackluster arbiter, what with his constant brooding.

if mixed well and used correctly, many wonderful sound samples can be generated from the wide variation of new sounds that halo 4 generated, as opposed to halo 1 2 and 3 sharing the same generic sounds despite their obvious aging.

it isn't so much about the defense of the game as it is the usage of the resources; compliment or criticize the tool, not the game. this is not the thread for that.
