A question to those who view this thread;

How would one be able to extract the updated BSP's from Halo Anniversary, as well as the models for the characters, vehicles, and scenery objects into a format that 3DSmax is capable of reading?

What tools are available for this, and how would somebody convert these resources into a format readable by 3DSmax?

EDIT: Also, can it be possible for Halo CE to render them in either the same way Halo Anniversary would, or better?

You would need tools that are capable of ripping Reach models. Even then there is some sort of additional protection.

What kind of protection, exactly?

The multiplayer maps are literally just halo reach. They work in adjutant.

I knew that.

Nothing public for cea campaign however.

I also knew that, which is why I posted this thread, to learn how to get those very resources.

Once again, Just because it would take an extreme amount of time to figure out doesn't make it impossible.

Shadow Spartan can do it, he once showed the CEA and H4 Mark V models side-by-side, anyone remember that?

So far, there are NO tools that can do this. Some people did manage to extract some content but I really doubt those people will be sharing their secrets anytime soon.

I'm so arrogant that I'm to the point where I quote myself in an attempt to get a point across.

I'm sorry, I'm just trying to be friendly and helpful. No need to be a prat.

@Megatron: As I stated above, Shadow Spartan can extract CEA assets, probably with a custom-coded extractor. I know for a fact that he will NOT share assets, but if you ask nicely he might give you some advice/pointers or something helpful. He's cool if a bit secretive.

the people who figured it out (as usual) won't share.

Here's some shared information on the HA10 files in open sauce

the campaign maps are .s3dpak instead of .map, you can use quickbms and this plugin: https://mega.co.nz/#!bko2HCJS!NPQFvzzRD1lLg3MjyaBs2f9qTVdDq3g86aHQajb7-cY to extract the files inside. After that, you will have lots of files without format, the textures headers are "TCIP" and are compressed in DXT1, to see the offset where the raw data starts, open sc_white in a hex editor and select the first "" (11111111). Create a .dds file (there is a plugin for photoshop) and try to figure out the dimensions of the texture. save it as "DXT1 with alpha", no mipmaps, all default and replace the raw data with your textures raw data.
(i'm preety sure gravemind knew how to do this long ago)

Great work.

It extract everything inside the .s3dpak file: models, shaders, bsp's, bitmaps, rigged bipeds... the problem is to figure out the format of each one and convert it to a readable format.

Wow Greak work.

is that the highest resolution of the texture? Or are there extraction issues with the MIPs?

That's super exciting. So basically the files extracted from CEA are "garbage" until you manually figure out what they are and put them into their correct formats yourself?

Now, for environment data that's pretty useful - textures for metals, stone, ground, scenery, etc.

But without models I feel like there's not much potential gain from such rigorous and obviously long drawn out work :/

inb4 he comes at you.

Regardless of what you may say, the "Do it yourself" ideology doesnt make him a non-member of the community, it just makes him one who doesnt want to share, which in on its own right is alright i guess, but from what i see he's doing it because people keep on blaming him for what CAD did forever ago (he even said something to me about that in an earlier post, i didnt even know who he was until Adjutant was waaaaaay into production).

Ye I get that the whole keep to yourself thing is a thing of the past, and that sharing information usually advances everyone else, im 99% sure that he's stuck in that mindset that people are going to just make a mess of it (ie Johnlex mods [No offense bro])

I don't need much... just to know the basic format... the rest I can figure out :P
Also, it's a little annoying that he's like "hey look I have all this stuff but I don't want to tell you how I did, I just want to make you jealous "
I will figure it out sooner or later and share it, but he could give me a clue at least

This thread is pretty old.. That said, pretty much all your questions are awncered on page 1.

Maturing at a pathetic rate and playing lots of halo 3 before managing to get my pc to acceptable levels in terms of hardware. Now I have downloaded HEK for some reason and I am installing it. Hoping to learn some basic stuff and setup a type of firefight like Nutz for my own amusement.
