how do i make it look normal and not like this




im stupid at grass.

i would use the real forge island terrain bitmap but it looks like a 4 yr olds MS paint picture.

First get a better grass texture. That looks really dingy.

its the one from forge island. I would use the terrain bitmap that the bsp uses but...

Why port Forge Island? It's just a flat rock in the middle of an ocean.

That's why someone would port it. It's a simple easy port that doesn't require a lot of time and/or energy.

If that's the entire map, you can make it look better by making the texture tile more in UVs.

@Echo I haven't been here for a while, but it seems like a ton of maps nowadays are just imported HR scenery mashed into maps, sometimes with custom geometry, other times not. I guess the point would be to eliminate that step entirely.

What are you talking about? That's a lovely ground bitmap, that has more detail than you could want. That there is essentially meant to be the alpha for H1 (To choose which detail maps to apply). Then you can replace the colors with whatever base color you want.

Since idk what the colors should be, I have to guess, but here's a setup tif file for that image. Setup your shader enviroment with that, then setup a detail map with grass and the other with dirt.

yes, i suck at bsps and also to give halo 4 modders etc a thing to put scenery and stuff in.

It doesn't seem like it offers anything, either. I've got nothing against ports; I'm quite fond of them if they're done well and fun to play on. Forge Island exists almost solely for the purpose of offering a flat piece of land for people to Forge on, and CE already has plenty of maps with large, flat areas to build upon that are much more interesting.

If you add a ton of crap to it and make it so I can actually fly around and do something then people will feel inclined to download the map. I just hope it doesn't play like extinction w/o vehicles.
