Obviously, this is the public beta for the new version of the UUI that will launch alongside B30: Evolved. We have yet to make the new bitmaps yet, so this has yet to get it's reskin and is well... ugly. Functionality wise, everything here SHOULD work. However, the last thing we want to do is release it with any functionality problems, so I am posting it for any of you who wish to explore it. Mattdratt did pretty much all the work on this revision, so kudos to him. The changes in this are isolated to the CMT section, but during the extraction and tinkering of things, it is possible other things have broken, hence the public beta.

Okay; so here is the deal, the update pretty much updates the CMT stuff in anticipation for the Silent Cartographer Evolved release. Are there any new maps or anything that should be added since the last update?

I also had to cut a portion of the scripts because I couldn't get it to compile. I have no idea what it did and it didnt seem to affect anything so please test it.

I imagine that the screens fading in and out when selecting a campaign not being there anymore is due to this being a beta?

The dialog boxes retain Halo 1 elements and the fade animations are missing


The dialog boxes are proper and there are fade animations

Oh and also to inform the UI makers including Mooseguy and CMT, I want to have the UUI but with Halo 2 main menu music only. Halo 2 is so kewl

So you mean add a playlist for a bunch of flood SP maps, ODST SP maps, etc? That'd be pretty sweet.

You are going to have to be a little more specific than that. When you say Halo 2 style I don't see what you mean. Halo 1 and 2 UI was identical in terms of placement. Halo 3 was the same just with the menu to the bottom left. If you mean updated images from later halos then that's a terrible idea. It gives this horrible feeling when you see images of models from Halo 3 but then you are greeted with a jonhlex map. If you mean the slick and futuristic looking blue then that's debatable. Do you mean the way campaigns were separated in your previous image?

One thing I noticed is that it doesn't fade into the new windows nicely like the old one did. You should bring that feature back :P

The reason that many UI elements are low-res is because Bungie designed Halo's UIs to display at 640x480 pixels. This display size is merely scaled up when the game's settings are changed. Thus, I cannot increase the pixel density of the bitmaps within the interface.
