Sorry I had to make a new thread.


Okay first I open 3ds max and it just crashes and I did go on compatibility still nothing. If someone used to have same problem with this can someone help me fix this?

need more info in order to be able to help you. how does it crash any error messages. have you tried googleing the issue?

I use 3ds max 7 but when I open the application it just freezes and there is no errors. How ever when I install 3ds max 8 that error shows up and I did searched on google why is not working. Still no luck.

aah, i had the same problem on my desktop. i couldnt fix it. i works fine on my laptop both are 64 bit windows only difference is hardware so i assume its a hardware issue

Can you explain your problem further?

I.E any error codes and such.

Let me see... you load 3dsmax and when it draws the viewports that's when the program freezes no messages or anything right.

If you answered yes to the above^^ Then this is a drivers issue... a problem with your graphics card and the older versions of 3ds max. It doesn't mean your card is bad it just means the supplied drivers are not compatible with older versions of 3ds max.

You only have 2 options.

1). Go to your cards manufacture website and see if there are older drivers or package's that can be downloaded.

2). Install or at least try to find the service packs for your version of 3ds max your trying to use though this still in some cases does not solve the problem.

Other than that there's nothing you can do with your current setup.

Is it not possible to use a system restore? to restore your pc to an earlier date when 3ds was working?

Backup any files b4 you do though!
