Been wondering a few things for a while. When I play halo at 60 frames I start having some issues. In certain parts of some places I'll get flickering and such. I would record a video but my fps drops when doing so and the problem then goes away. Does anyone know anything about this? Is limiting the fps to 30 the only solution?

Halo Animations are locked @ 30fps, as its hardcoded into the engine. The flickering is there because at 60 FPS your seeing each frame of the animation twice (2 x 30 = 60). If you played at 120 fps and had a monitor capable of doing that, you'd see each frame three times. You can play at a capped 30 fps, which is what the game was designed for, but most people these days prefer 60, and put up with the double framed animations

I'm not talking about animations. I'm talking about issues related to rendering. Animations and rendering are probably in the same camp but it's the only way I can really describe it. Here is an image where I tried to showcase it as best as I could.

Just imagine random lines all over the screen when looking at large areas or glass.

I know what you mean but there really isn't any solution besides portal better (maybe?) or play at 30

I cant seem to ever capture it when recording with fraps, so you could just always have fraps recording...

Get HAC2. Add -windowed to your shortcut. Press alt+enter to go in fake fullscreen. That MIGHT help.

get better hardware

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 B26 3.2Ghz
RAM: 4GB DDR2
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6670 1GB
You're telling me Halo needs better specs? I know my machine isn't very impressive at all but how is this not enough?
I'll try what altis said and if it doesn't help then maybe limiting it to 50-40 fps might since that's what fraps lowers it down to making the problem go away.

I haven't replayed the level in a while, so im unsure if my problem still exists, but;
Apparently B30 (AotCR) is prone to rainbows in the glass, and nulling the cube-map should fix it.

Try DisableBuffering in config.text
Or MinMaxBlendOpIsBroken

To enable it you just remove the slashes, correct? Didn't seem to do anything to help the issue.

Well I was planning on getting a new GPU soon but it really seems like an extreme solution at the moment.

Altis solution did provide some benefits though. The problem went away somewhat in the areas that previously had problems. It. isn't as bad as it was before at least. My FPS did suffer though so I had to remove my AF and MLAA to maintain a stable 60 FPS. Better than nothing I suppose but if anyone has other suggestions please do. It isn't as bad as before but it is an eyesore. Thank you Altis by the way. The problem seems to be related to areas where the glass has reflections for some reason. Examples of this are the The Silent Cartographer security room and the control room.
Edit: Got a mission mixed up somehow.
