I've been working on my skills with urbany street stuff. I'm not really gonna explain much, but take a look at some pics:



The biped that will be used is going to be normal human sized, so i used a marine to make sure that the drainages accomodate a person.

I've been making the pieces fairly modular, this way I can build a map like puzzle pieces.

The normals are set to 100 in 3ds just so I know for sure they are there. The trashbins have three permutations, I'll upload them for you soon.

Might know about it already, but something that really helped me make textures was xoliushader. There a some small inaccuracies to do with crappily made normal maps tho.

None of this is anywhere near finished, this is just the center of the map. This entire little project is mainly a test of my skills, see if I can do it.

You just took those pictures with a camera. There is no way you can get grass as good as that in CE.

I might use some FP arms from GTA V:






Now that I can do GTA V model extraction, I can probably port entire bipeds and arm styles. The only issue would be making sure that the rigging fits as closely to halo as possible but that won't be necessary if I make an entirely custom set of animations... Still, for the greatest possible compatibility I'd love to rig this to MC bones.

EDIT: I posed the MC arms to the new arms, this way I can rig the GTA V model into the MC bones and then use that :D



EDIT: I've sort of managed to streamline the rigging process so that I can just make adjustments to the arms models and use that instead of having to pose a ton of stuff. Anyway, I'll need to make further refinements to the next rig but for now I am glad I got these in-game and working.





I have the male and female version of the arms and I can get many other sets too.




Also, to everyone in general: Would you guys like for me to create HUD tutorials by recording my screen and using voice? I feel like I could share all of my knowledge if I spoke instead of typed out on tutorials.

You do not even require fraps since this handy little recorder allows you to record halo in windowed mode without having it chug like a hooters maid :D.

Because camtasia can't capture halo, where as in action you don't even need to be in the gaming mode just use regular desktop captcha and it works a charm.

That is why it is so awesum and keewl like me.

Just window halo, it works fine.


I don't think you own camtasia if you did you would know that running halo in windowed mode really doesn't do much since the codecs which camtasia uses to capture your screen are not optimized for gaming fps's.

Action! However is both able to calculate the desktop composition and gaming composition though It has to be said for newer games such as GRID Autosport and NFS Rivals you do need to switch from the regular desktop mode to the specialized gaming mode in order to fluidly retain the V and G-sync effects.

It's planned to be a Firefight type of map, and yes, nearly all of the buildings in the player-zone will be enterable. (If I don't go over the triangle limit for OS or possibly HAC.

I've been working on it almost non stop for about a week now. I didn't make it to CE3 but that won't stop my progress.

Only 200 degenerate triangles to take care of before I can implement the buildings (I just finished most of the street work today)

Hey guys, as you all know my map is an small town type of map, and I have something to ask and I'll keep it short:


Give me some ideas for small buildings to model.


Here are a few examples: (random internets images)






I don't want any big city skyscrapers or something out of place like that. No malls either or anything super complicated. A lot of these will be in the distance so they don't need too much detail. The player-zone buildings will have more detail and possibly interiors, so keep all this in mind.

I'm probably gonna add a 7-11 and smaller buildings like that.


Give me some creative ideas and provide example images if you can :D
